[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 101010; border: #262626 solid 10px; width: 515px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]Jake had woken up that morning, head still slightly fuzzy from the amount of alcohol he had consumed the night before, heading straight to the shower to wake himself up more. Today just felt like one of those days where he would rather just not get out of bed, and he didn’t have those days very often, very rarely, in fact. It was probably because he knew he had to tell Lily that he wasn’t going to Oxford today.
He didn’t want to, he knew how she would feel about it, but as far as it went there wasn’t a lot he could do about it. He had a lot of responsibilities here… learning about his family company so he could take over once his father retired, not to mention the fact he had Spence and Tiggy to look out for, especially if the whole murderer situation wasn’t sorted out by the end of the school year. He couldn’t just run off to England and leave them to deal with it. The last thing he wanted was a phone call to say one of his siblings had died, and he hadn’t been there to help them. He had spoken with his parents about it… well, the business part of it anyway… and they had pointed out a lot of good points to him. It wasn’t that they didn’t love Lily, they did, but they had to think about that too.
After he had finished showering, getting out and pulling on a pair of pyjama pants, for now, since he wasn’t planning on leaving the dorm just yet, if at all today, and they were more comfortable anyway, he headed out to the kitchen to make himself coffee, leaning against the counter as he waited for the coffee machine to finish, trying to get himself to wake up more before he had to get into anything heavy with Lily, since he was going to need to be able to think clearly while he told her. - - - - - - - - - - 'cause i won't let you burn out tonight, let's just stay here, don't breathe, ignite, and you be the reason, i'll be the rhyme, we've both got way too much ahead to worry bout what we've left behind, so you keep the beat, we'll stay on time, and fill the pages with just how both our worlds collide, when i'm left in your eyes |

She groaned and pulled the blankets tighter around her. She wasn’t sure what time it was, but she did know that she just wanted to be curled up next to Jake once more. The night before her and Jake had gotten into an argument, which had thankfully been a less often occurrence as of late, which caused her to ask him for a day of not leaving the room. She didn’t ask for them a lot because she didn’t exactly mind going to class, but it just felt like there had been unnecessary tension between them lately and she just wanted it fixed. So a day in bed, cuddled up, and watching movies was exactly what she wanted to do. She was just glad that Jake had agreed to it.
She blinked hard as she heard the shower turn off and soon after could smell the coffee brewing in the other room. She groaned once more knowing that this meant she really should get out of bed. She flipped over and stretched before lazily letting her legs slide off the bed before sitting up. She stretched once more and fumbled for her glasses which were sitting on Jake’s bedside table. She couldn’t be bothered to go and put her contacts in. It was too early for that nonsense and plus Jake was one of two people who she didn’t mind if they saw her with her glasses on. She pulled her hair up into a messy bun, slipping the hair tie off her wrist to keep it in place before finally standing up.
Lily lazily made her way to the kitchen, spotting Jake leaning on the counter. She made her way up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her cheek on his back. She took a deep breath letting the mix of his body wash and the coffee in the air fill her nostrils before letting out a soft sigh. ‘Morning,’ she muttered as she nuzzled her face against his back, not wanting to leave his presence for the rest of the day. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 101010; border: #262626 solid 10px; width: 515px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]He knew that she would probably be up soon, standing there as he waited for the coffee to be done, mulling over how he was going to tell her in his head. And it wasn’t even just about not going to Oxford… it didn’t feel as simple to that as him. They had been basically living in each other’s pockets since they had first started dating, it had all moved pretty fast, which, considering neither of them were exactly relationship people to begin with, had something to do with how tense things seemed lately. And he didn’t think that long distance was a good idea for either of them as well… it wasn’t good for anyone, really, especially since there was no saying how long it would be until they were actually living in the same country again. It wouldn’t be fair on either of them, and it would feel like he were holding her back from leading a potential life without him if he staked his claim on her even though he wasn’t there, as much as it hurt to think about them not being together.
He had been right about her getting up soon, feeling her arms slide around his waist from behind him, wrapping them around his waist and leaning against his back. “Hey,” he answered, one hand brushing her arm gently, the coffee maker finishing its work in that second. “Do you want coffee or anything?” he asked, pouring his own cup while he waited for her response. It probably shouldn’t have been this easy to act so normal with her right now, not with what he needed to talk to her about, but he didn’t want the normality of their relationship to go away in the meantime, not if he could help it.
Setting everything down again, he turned around in her arms, wrapping his arms around her for a moment, planting a kiss on the top of her head. “That’s the last time I do car bombs with Chase and Bruce,” he muttered, although he knew that would probably hardly be the last time that happened… he’d probably said that exact thing every time they had been drinking together, actually, and he still kept doing it anyway.

She was still half asleep, but being close to Jake was all she needed. She was glad that they weren’t going to do anything today. Sometimes she just needed a day of missing class and jellybeans and Jake. It was probably the best combination she could think of. With everything that had been going on she just wanted to pretend like it didn’t exist sometimes. Even though it was hard to do that when it kept haunting her dreams. She had them under control for the most part now. She didn’t wake up screaming in the middle of the night anymore. Sometimes she would wake up, but when she realized where she was she would curl back up next to Jake and fall back asleep. Just knowing he was there made her feel safe and it made the nightmares more bearable.
Lily looked up at him with a smile, resting her chin on her chest, laughing a little at his comment. ‘Ya like that will ever happen. I predict you guys do that again this weekend.’ Lily knew there was no way that he would stop drinking with his friends. Just like she wouldn’t stop drinking with hers. Hers usually being Beth for the most part. Not that she went out and partied anymore like she used to. She just would go and drink with Beth and talk about life, like girls tended to do. After squeezing him and standing on her tip toes to give him a kiss she wriggled out of his arms and grabbed her cup. She made her way to the table and sat in one of the chairs, bringing her legs close to her body, and taking a sip of her coffee. ‘So what’s on the agenda today Mr. Wayne?’ [/style] [style=font-family:tahoma; font-size:8px; line-height:10px; letter-spacing:3px; color: #9461B5; text-align:justify;]- - - AND LONG LIVE THE FAST TIMES, SO COME WHAT MAY, I DON'T THINK I'LL EVER BE SAVED, LONG LIVE US [/style][/center]

I just won’t agree to any car bombs this time around,” he answered, chuckling tiredly. Actually, that probably wouldn’t happen either, they would probably be sat in front of him and he would just drink them, regardless of whether or not he wanted the headache in the morning. That was just what happened when he got drinking with them.
He kissed her back, letting her go as she picked up her coffee and made her way over to the table, turning to pick up his own and following her over. “Don’t ask me, today was your idea… so you get to choose,” he replied, setting his coffee down on the table before sitting on the empty chair near hers, sitting so that he was facing her, elbows resting on the table as he looked over at her. Honestly he didn’t mind what they did, he was tired enough right now that it didn’t matter so much, and he had the feeling that after he spoke to her about Oxford, their plans would change anyway.
“I still need to talk to you about a couple of things today as well,” he said, picking up his coffee and taking a sip after a moment, wondering if he should have waited until they were both more awake to even mention it, or at least until later in the day but… no matter how long he put it off, he was going to have to tell her, and it was probably better to tell her sooner rather than later. Either way, he knew it wasn’t going to go down so well. and you be the reason, i'll be the rhyme you needed something you could hold with your hands, something rebellious that you don't understand, something that you were sure we'd never remand, won't you please clue me in on the plan, because i won't let you burn out tonight, let's just stay here, don't breathe, ignite |

It was a feeling she really couldn’t describe. But it was definitely something she had never felt in her life. Maybe this was what love really felt like. Not that she would know. She hadn’t really received it from her parents, sister, or extended family. The closest thing she had gotten to it before Jake was Beck and that in no way was love at all. ‘That’s also a lie. That is all you four ever drink.’ She had seen the four best friends drink car bomb after car bomb before until they were all silly drunk to the point where they almost fell. She was pretty sure last time they had all gotten drunk she saw Hayden almost fall down the stairs. It was fun to watch especially since she would drink casually with Beth. Not that she couldn’t keep up with them, not in the least bit, but it was more fun to make fun of Jake the next morning for the weird things he would occasionally say under the influence of alcohol.
She scrunched up her face a little as if to signify that she was thinking before shrugging her shoulders. ‘I really don’t care. I just wanted to spend the day with you.’ It wasn’t as if Lily didn’t see Jake every day, but tensions had been high lately. She understood why of course, but that didn’t mean that she didn’t want a day stress free. Every time they tried though something seemed to come up. Beck had interrupted her birthday. Sterling getting in a bad car crash interrupted Valentine’s day. And the worst, her almost dying and forgetting who Jake was interrupting their plans for a camping trip. She just wanted one day where they didn’t have to worry about almost being killed. Just wanted to be a normal teen with a normal boyfriend with normal relationship problems. But today she was hoping the problems thing would wait.
‘Ya you said that last night. Is something wrong?’ A pit grew in Lily’s stomach as he mentioned that they needed to talk. In movies and books that never signified anything good. All she could do was swallow hard, bite her tongue and just hope that it was something not heavy or bad. Just something random that he wanted to mention to her or to talk to her about. That was all she could hope for. After this he was probably going to be begging for another drink, however, he was fairly sure – not that he had been resorting to alcohol for most of his problems for a while lately, he’d needed to be sober a lot more than he usually would, for obvious reasons, but considering what he needed to talk to her about, a drink or two later probably wouldn’t seem like such a bad idea.
He nodded, taking a mouthful of his coffee as she spoke. “Alright. I have a paper I need to get started on so I should probably get on that at some point today,” he replied. He could fit that in around whatever it was they decided to do today, he was positive, hangover or not. Well, the paper needed to be written and contrary to popular belief, he did actually work as hard as he played, so to speak. He’d learned how to juggle both a long time ago, if he hadn’t his GPA would be far from perfect like it was, and his parents definitely would have had something to say about that.
“It’s about Oxford…” he started, sitting his coffee cup down on the table and looking over at her, letting out an inaudible sigh. This wasn’t going to go easily, he knew that, but it was better to get it over and done with sooner rather than later. He’d already known about it for a while, but he hadn’t had the chance to tell her, just because of everything that had been going on, it had been hard. And maybe he’d just wanted to keep the small amount of peace they had for a little bit longer.
He may as well do it quickly, if he was going to do it. Rip it off like a band aid. “I can’t go.” and you be the reason, i'll be the rhyme you needed something you could hold with your hands, something rebellious that you don't understand, something that you were sure we'd never remand, won't you please clue me in on the plan, because i won't let you burn out tonight, let's just stay here, don't breathe, ignite |

Knowing the boys that wasn’t going to happen. They were unhealthily addicted to Irish Car Bombs. Not that she complained. They were good. But that seriously was the only thing they ever drank when they got together. So she really doubted that that would change any time soon. ‘Ya I have a math test I should study for at some point. I just love how the teachers cram everything together when it gets close to Spring Break.’ Lily shook her head a little with a roll of her eyes. She was just ready for the week to be there.
‘Oh…what about it?’ Lily could just feel that this was not going to be good. Her grip on her coffee cup became tighter and she tried to keep her breathing normal. She knew she wasn’t going to hear whatever was going to come out of his mouth next. She gulped hard when he said it. ‘Oh…ok…’ Inside she was dying. But it wasn’t like she couldn’t say anything to him. She knew why he had to do it, she did, but that didn’t make it hurt any less. ‘What does that mean for us then?’ She was hoping it just meant they would just try the long distance thing. It wasn’t as if she wouldn’t see him over Christmas and summer. They could make it work, they could. But he could see it in her eyes that she definitely wasn’t okay with this, and he hadn’t expected that she would be, and he knew that she was only going to feel worse about it with what else he had to say. But he had to say it, he’d left off telling her that he wasn’t going to Oxford with them long enough as it was, and he couldn’t keep it all from her until the last minute, it was better to tell her everything now.
“I think…” he started, stopping briefly to consider how to word everything else. “I think that it might be best if we break up when you leave,” he continued, something that was even harder to tell her than that he couldn’t go to England with her.
“It’s just that… long distance relationships rarely work, and I don’t want to put us through that. And I don’t want to hold you back by being over here while you’re all the way over there, it wouldn’t be fair on you,” he said, figuring it would be best to get as much of an explanation out for it as possible as he could. “I’d go with you if I could, Lily, but I have too many responsibilities here that I can’t leave… I’ve talked to my parents about it and they thought it would be better if I stayed, and I think they’re right.” and you be the reason, i'll be the rhyme you needed something you could hold with your hands, something rebellious that you don't understand, something that you were sure we'd never remand, won't you please clue me in on the plan, because i won't let you burn out tonight, let's just stay here, don't breathe, ignite |

She knew she wasn't going to like whatever he was going to say next. He didn't even really need to say it. Jake and her had become close enough that she could read it from his expression and it took everything in her not to start crying. Her heart clenched and she tightened her jaw. She was so determined not to cry and when he actually said the words she was glad she had braced herself.
She just nodded, fearing that she would start crying if she let herself speak. She nodded more as he went along justifing his reasons. She understood why, she really did, but she didn't like it. It hurt. It just hurt. She took a deep breath and stood up. 'I'm...I'm going to go.' She couldn't be around him right now. Being around him was not what would make her feel better.
