personality: Chuck spent his first few years of life in a less than ideal situation, and because of that he had to do a lot of growing up in a very short amount of time. He was always very independent, just so that he could survive. He essentially lived on his own from the time that he was five until he was nearly eight years old. He was always a quick learner which worked to his advantage. Being that his mother was mostly absent, if not physically then mentally she was gone, which made him develop an aversion to drug use of any kind. Her "friends" were the kind of person that no kid should be around, and he spent most of his time locked in his room so that they couldn't get in, creating a craving in him to be around normal people, but an unwillingness to immediately trust anyone.
Chuck has always loved the English language, having taught himself to read from the kid's books he had in his room which were his only company while his mom and her friends were shooting up in the living room. He would rather spend his weekends buried in a pile of books than going out and partying like normal guys his own age. His passion for the language sent him to school to become an English major with a minor in education. He works well with kids and will most likely settle down and start a family when the time is right. He is very active and participates in every sport that he can possibly get into.

history: Hayley was a hardcore drug addict as well as an alcoholic before during and after she was pregnant with Chuck. Even after he was born she didn't seem to care to change, and for the most part Chuck's life was fairly miserable. For the first five years of his life he was told that drugs and alcohol were worth more to his mother than he was, and although it hurt he just bottled it up and endured the emotional torture that she put him through. Needless to say, he spent most nights awake listening to the party downstairs, or listening for his mother to come home. He didn't live in a good part of town, but was regularly left home alone for hours, and sometimes a full day or two, while his mom was off getting drunk and stoned with her "friends." It was a miracle he didn't starve or get kidnapped during those first five years.
When he turned 5, he was adopted by his mom's new boyfriend who also happened to be a policeman. Unlike all of Hayley's other boyfriends, this one was actually nice to him, and Chuck never saw him even so much as handling drugs or alcohol. Charlie made all the difference in Chuck's life, and at that point, he stopped caring about who his biological dad was. He had hoped for five years that maybe his biological dad would find him and take him away... but Charlie was better than that. He not only stopped Chuck's life from being a living hell, he also started turning his mom around for the better too. At 6, Charlie and Hayley had a baby girl, who of course Chuck was completely devoted to. When Charlie was working, Chuck would look after her almost like any teenage babysitter would, but with more affection. Mimicking everything Charlie did, Chuck developed a love of people younger than him, even at such a young age.
Shortly after Melody was born, Charlie and Haley split and she essentially disappeared, essentially abandoning her two children. Not terribly long after that Charlie started dating a young woman with a son two years older than Chuck. Jamie was not your typical kid, but he and Chuck got on well enough. Two years later Jamie's mom and Charlie found out that she was going to have a baby and shortly after discovered that she had cancer. She managed to carry the baby to term, but he was born with cancer, which he'd developed in the womb from her. They both fought the cancer and the baby, Lucas went into remission when he was four, and a year later so did Peyton. Seeing his baby brother and Peyton go through cancer treatment and such was a very sobering situation, even for someone as young as him.
When he reached high school, he was one of those jocks. He'd played football since he was old enough to do so, and so entering high school he was definitely one of those cool guys. Freshman year he was the quarterback of the JV team and backup QB for the Varsity team. Sophomore year he was straight varsity, and when the main QB was injured, naturally Chuck took his place, and held that position all through the rest of high school while still managing to pull off straight A's in all of his classes. When he was 16, Peyton's cancer returned and in a very short time, despite the best efforts of the doctors and the best treatments money could buy, she succumbed to it and passed away. At that point, Jamie pushed the whole family so far away that it seemed at times that they might never see him again.
After graduating, Chuck went to college to major in english and minor in education, and played college football during that time too. His grades weren't quite as perfect in college as they were in high school, but he had a lot more to worry about now than he did then. He was the starting QB sophomore year, and throughout the entirety of his four years in college. He graduated college this year and will be pursuing a job as an educator in Easton.
