SHE COULD BE A JOAN OF ARC
It was the end of another school year.
Huzzah.
Tristan sat out on the edge of the little pier that jutted out into the lake, sure she would feel much better on the Vid side than the Dulc side. She was so tired of Dulcinea. She was tired of seeing the same faces day after day and the same teachers, the same landscape, the same buildings. She had never been to the Vid side of campus, even when her brother was at Easton Academy. She knew most kids broke the rules and roamed each campus, even though they were forbidden to, but she just never had a desire to. It just seemed pointless. What was over here that wasn't over there, other then boys? It wasn't like they were a different creature with magical differences. She didn't know what fascinated girls about this place, and now that she had come over on her own, she just proved herself right. She felt the same.
It was all the same.
A sigh left her lips as she lined up the few stones she'd plucked on the way over in a perfectly straight line next to her, and then meticulously picked out one to toss.
"I have been reduced to skipping rocks now..." She said aloud, stifling a chuckle. It all seemed so ironic. Out of her siblings, she was always the one they called "16 going on 36", because she was the most practical. Austin had been the athlete, Bridget had always been the...well...they didn't really have a word to describe Bridget. Bridget probably couldn't even describe herself. Someone had to be the responsible one.
She picked up a rock and skipped it, but she had never really been good at skipping rocks, or...ever skipped a rock at all. It flew a few feet and plopped hard into the water.
"Screw you, rock." She picked up another, and it did the same thing.
And then another.
And another.
Finally she just picked up all of them and chucked them in.
"Screw you...gravity and physics!" She exclaimed with a huff.
