They were standing in line for the Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in Disneyland Paris, and he had just had five relentless minutes of being teased by the Collinses for looking so ill at the prospect of riding the fastest roller coaster in France. Kit hated roller coasters almost as much as Lyss loved them, but that was working in his favour for once, covering up his nerves. Of course, Dom and Corny knew the real reason behind Kit being so antsy, but he figured they had chimed in so that Lyss didn't suspect anything out of the ordinary... Or they were jumping at a chance to poke lighthearted at him just like Lyss had a habit of doing. Either way, Kit didn't mind. The only thing he did mind about right now was what was about to unfold.

She was with three of the people she loved most in the world while their parents sat having a coffee with Kerensa as she was too young and small to get on the ride. She had been on the roller coaster many a time in Florida so knew what to expect. This was the first time however she had ever managed to convince Kit to come on it, and it was also just as exciting because it was the first time she had been on it in Paris. Without interrupting her giddy conversation with her brothers Lyss watched Kit from the corner of her eye, as he watched her. Giving him a shy smile she reached her hand out and slipped it into his. The line moved forward again and her excitement built as she realised that they would be on the next car that came through. Turning to Kit she gave his hand a squeeze and her biggest grin. “You excited yet?” | [atrb=width,140] words ,

When the coach returned to the boarding area, his head snapped up, quickly assessing what was going on. This whole arrangement had taken hours of negotiation and a fair amount of money, he wanted to make sure everything was going to go okay. If it went tits up, Kit didn't know what would happen - hell, he didn't even know what would happen if it did go well - that was the thing about asking a girl to prom, he supposed. After a pause, now content with the fact that everything was going to plan, Kit responded to Lyss with a chuckle: "Not as excited as you!"
Taking a deep breath as he mulled over what was going to play out soon enough, Kit allowed himself stare into the middle distance to take a moment. But he had to shake himself out of it after a few seconds, when he realised everyone was moving forward. As the four of them edged along the line, the large group in front of them began filling the seats of the 24 seat coaster. They kept slowly shuffling towards the gate, until the large group suddenly didn't seem quite so big anymore, and then Kit began panicking. But he needn't have, because as far as he could work out, there was enough room for all four of them still.
Kit breathed out a sigh again, but this time of relief, as the cast member first let Corny and Dom, then him and Lyss, through the barrier. There were no seats left that were side by side, but Kit spotted one one row back from the front, which had another empty seat directly behind it - that would have to do. After he'd taken the seat and strapped himself in, he looked behind him, expecting Lyss to be sitting there... but it was someone else. It was another blonde girl that wasn't Lyss. He craned his neck to see what was going on. From what he could tell, they had realised there was one person too many out on the platform and so they had to take back the last person they'd let through - Lyss. Fuck.
Internally scolding himself for letting his mental arithmetic skills suffer under the pressure, Kit tried in vain to attract the attention of the cast members, but to no avail. The music was too blaringly loud, plus they had recognised Lyss from his description, meaning they had retreated to the tech box to set everything up for the next coach. Kit attracted the attention of Dom and Corny, who were sitting further back, behind one another. Corny held his thumbs up and Dom gave a reassuring nod - neither of them had realised the problem either, until Kit looked at them and mouthed help!
But by then it was too late. The variable message sign above him lit up the numbers for the countdown, with a booming voice accompanying it. 5... Kit gave up trying to do anything about the scenario he'd found himself in, and turned his head back round, forced to face the looming darkness in front of him. 4... God, he really did hate rollercoasters now. 3... But if there was anything worse than going on a roller coaster, it was having one of his meticulous plans go awry. 2... And so, the fact that both were happening at the same time right now was not good. 1... Nope, not good at all. 0... Kit squeezed his eyes tightly shut as he was thrust forward, already wishing it was over.

She was one of those people who went from being nervous to extremely excited about going on a rollercoaster. She loved it when she was on one; the thrill and the adrenaline rush were brilliant and made her feel alive. But the queuing and waiting always made her nervous beforehand. The line started to move as the car pulled into the track and Lyss gave kits hand one last reassuring squeeze as they slowly moved onto the platform to get into the seats. Once through the turnstiles Lyss noticed that there weren’t any seats next to each other anymore so just started to look for an empty one when one of the ride attendants tapped her shoulder. “hey i’m sorry miss but would you mind coming back behind the bars, we are afraid we miss counted and there aren’t enough seats” The guy stated to steer her back to the line before she had any chance to tell the boys what was happening.
Once she was stood back in the queue she scanned the car quickly to try and see if she could grab the attention of one of her three companions. Her eyes immediately fell on Kit sat on the second row. She was about to shout his name when he turned and noticed her. She gave him a quick shrug and mouthed “Good luck” raising her thumb encouragingly hoping that the experience wouldn’t scar him too much. The room was suddenly filled with a booming voice as the lights darkened and the ride commenced. she waved at her brothers who had finally noticed she had not got on with them and shouted that she would meet them outside just as the cart shot off. She didn’t have to wait long before the next cart pulled up and the same attendant who had pulled her to the side led her to the front. The guy made sure she was safely strapped in, taking extra care and seeming to be way to smiley. It was at that point she realised something was off. She didn’t know what it was but she knew, in the pit of her stomach. she didn’t have chance to ask what was going on because the lights dimmed once again and the countdown began.

The end of that ride couldn't have come sooner for him, but he knew Lyss would love it, even if it was probably pretty similar to the Florida one. The course had come full circle, meaning that he could just about see where they had all been waiting in line just ten minutes beforehand. But there was no sign of Lyss, meaning she'd be on the course already. Kit ran a hand through his hair nervously, and made his way towards the exit door with Dom and Corny, who looked sort of unsure how to feel. Just before they left the room though, one of the cast members recognised Kit, caught him and told him had all gone to plan liked he'd asked it to. Well, that was reassuring enough, he thought as the three of them walked through the building, following the exit route.
Once they were outside, Dom and Corny went to go and find both sets of families, while Kit stayed just outside the exit of the building, waiting for Lyss. He sat down on a nearby bench, running through what she would have been experiencing in his head. First, she would have been allocated the front row seat on the right, the seat where he'd had them adjust which Aerosmith song would be playing through the five speakers embedded in the seat. They hadn't let him have the song playing for the whole coach change, they'd said the tempo was too slow or something, but at least they'd let him adjust that one seat. They'd reassured him it would be effective enough - hopefully it would be. After settling in her seat, Lyss would have been waiting in anticipation for the ride to start - he could see her now: far more excited than he had been, and even less patient.
Then, the countdown would have started, and with that, so would Kit's personalisation of the ride. The variable message sign would have flashed up with the beginning of the countdown like it had done for him, but following the numbers, there would be some alterations. 5... LET'S 4... GO 3... TO 2... PROM 1... TOGETHER 0... LYSS - he'd told them not to do audio for his amendments to the countdown, but that had come with the risk of her not playing attention to the visual countdown - he could only hope her attention span had stretched.
After that, she would have been catapulted forward from 0 to 57 MPH in 3 seconds, and the individual song he'd picked would kick in. While everyone else was listening to Walk This Way or some other anthem, she'd have I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing. He couldn't imagine it working for him, he'd have been too busy screeching, but he knew that Lyss would be paying attention and probably appreciate it. Regardless, he was due to find out any second, given that at that moment, she emerged from the exit doors. Kit stood up and walked towards her a few steps, cautious as always.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,10,true][atrb=style, background-color: #423c42;,true][cs=2] & YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN ` YOU'RE JUST A LOVELY IDEA OF ONE WHO I ACCIDENTALLY LOVED AND GAVE EVERYTHING TO BECOME THE GIRL ON THE PIANO BENCH SINGING ALL OF HER TEARS - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - away | [atrb=width,240] Having been to Disney nearly as many times as what she had been alive Lyss was accustomed to the soundtrack that played with each car. One of the things she had started to do was take note of the licence plates of each car, because each one had its own soundtrack. The car that she had been seated in was H8TRFFC so when i don’t want to miss a thing started to play through the speakers that surrounded her instead of Back in the saddle, the young blonde was slightly confused. Whipping her head round she noted that the attendants were all watching her. Furrowing her brow in confusion one of them started to point to the board with the scrolling countdown. She had already missed 5 and 4 but as the booming voice continued the countdown and the numbers scrolled across with words her confusion grew. She stared, eyes wide at the words as they scrolled. Her mind was reeling and her cheeks were burning.
She didn’t have time to collect her thoughts before she was forced into the back of her chair as the car was shot to nearly 60mph in under 3 seconds. At first the shock was still settling in but once she was half way around the track the shock lifted and instead she started to smile. A real honest to god ear to ear smile. I don’t want to miss a thing was still blaring into her ears making all her insides feel warm and mushy. Deciding to enjoy the rest of the ride, she threw her arm up whooping and screaming along her fellow riders. When the car finally pulled back into the track and the straps were lifted Lyss shakily stood from her seat still grinning. A young couple who had been in the seat behind her touched her lightly on the arm smiling. The young woman was the one to talk. “We take it you are the lyss that was being asked to prom?” Lyss simply replied with a nod to shocked that people had actually figured it out. the woman smiled and spoke again.“Well whoever he is, he’s a lucky guy, and he is certainly a keeper.” Lyss couldn’t help but blush.
Nodding the young couple her thanks she was even more surprised as other people who had been in the car with her started to clap her and congratulate her. Once she was outside she let the cool air wash over her and took in a deep breath calming her nerves. When she opened them her eyes immediately found kit. Keeping as straight a face as possible she looked him over from top to toe and couldn’t help the smile that formed as much as she fought it. She really was lucky to have someone like Kit in her life. It was a shame that she was only just now starting to realise it. But better late than never. She watched him as he took a few cautious steps towards her. Remaining where she was stood for only a moment longer she gave him the biggest smile she could. At that moment there was only the two of them. Everything else seemed to blur and there was only him. Running up to him she jumped into his arms wrapping her legs around his waist and her arm around his neck gripped him tight and whispered in his ear. “Yes, i would love to go to prom with you.” She leaned back To look him in the eyes and grinned before kissing him.

[style=border-right:10px solid #edeaea; letter-spacing:0px; border-top:10px solid #edeaea; background-color:#ffffff; padding: 10px; font-family:arial; font-size:11px; text-align:justify; line-height:12px;]For a moment, there was a pause where Lyss stood outside the exit, her eyes closed, taking a deep breath. She hadn't noticed Kit yet. He watched her from afar in suspense, his face seeming emotionless with growing nerves. When she opened her eyes and caught sight of him, she initially kept a poker face, just like the one he had on. Kit, embarrassed now, raised a hand up to run through the hair that met the nape of his neck. Looking down to the ground, he bit the inside of his cheek and sighed. At least he'd tried. Now he'd just have to work on trying to get their friendship back on tra-- suddenly, she broke into a huge smile, and Kit gave a short laugh in shock. Before that, he'd wanted to replace the two steps he'd taken forward with a million steps back, but now all he wanted to do was run up and hug her.
But Lyss beat him to it, and with full force - jumping up onto him, latching herself around him. This time, Kit laughed properly, hugging her back and closing his eyes as he held his arms around her waist, his chin at the top of her shoulder blade. Hearing her whisper, he bit his lip with a smile and moved his head, temporarily resting face down on the front part of her shoulder, just taking in the fact that he'd succeeded. He had originally planned to be cool about it and maybe fist pump a la Bender from The Breakfast Club, but then Lyss had gone and jumped him and hey, he wasn't really cool enough to do that kind of thing anyway. Kit leaned back when he felt Lyss doing so, and gave her a quick kiss, before leaning right back out again and looking her dead in the eyes with a mock-serious face - "Don't scare me like that again! I forbid it." He added, pulling a sad pout.
