can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
Things had moved so fast since Austin had come back into town, so fast she had no idea what was happening anymore. They had decided on a basketball game to reconnect, the same kind of game that had brought them together 6 years ago, only this time the winner didn't get a date. AJ asked him to hang out, and he uttered the 4 most mortifying words she could imagine in that particular order. "I have a girlfriend." When Austin said that to her, she felt herself wanting to hide. So much in fact, when she met up with him again in the chat, and he mentioned her -- Mia was her name -- she made the mistake of saying to him that he should meet Dem. Although she never said Dem was her boyfriend, she didn't deny it either, leaving Austin thinking that they were going on a double date as two couples. Dem covered for her, fortunate for her, but that led to him spending more and more time around her. He was a cocky son-of-a-bitch, but she put up with him for some reason. It always seemed like he was working some kind of angle, but the more he came around, the more she started to see things in Dem that she was unsure of. He had come over, and she had been sad this week, as she always was this time of year, but Dem was there for her, almost watching over her like a guardian angel. But he would never admit it. He was much to self-centered for that, or at least that's what he needed people to think She was only a couple of shots away from a night of drunk texting and sobbing about who knows what with her bottle of Jameson in her hand, and Dem had walked out on her, not willing to tolerate her getting pissy drunk again. She told him to get out. He obliged. But she couldn't let her pride get in the way of what she was feeling. So she bit the bullet and went after him. "Dem..." AJ said, opening the door and stepping out into the walkway. "Don't go. Please. I'm sorry." She was stubborn, and she knew it, and she knew that if she didn't learn to push the stubbornness out of the way, she would miss out on a lot of good things in her life, whether it be friends or something more. "Its just...difficult." She stepped outside of the door of her condo, her hand still on the knob. Maybe he'd be the Dem she thought he was, and just walk off, not even heeding her call. Or he could be the Dem who stayed sober and made her coffee and breakfast when she was hung over from a night of drunk crying. Demetrius Sinclair, was a box of chocolates. You never knew what you were going to get. [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: here | notes: -- [/style] |

Dem hadn't been back long. No not long at all. Only about two weeks since he had blown into town and partied in the only way he knew how whenever he got back. But there had been a lot going on around him in the time he had been back. And somehow he got wrapped up into a fake relationship. And even though he hated to admit it, it became more and more like a real relationship every passing hour they spent together. Something had changed the night when AJ had gotten drunk and spilled to him about the baby. It had been changing a bit before that, but that was a big turning point. And now here they were on the couch again and AJ was going to get drunk and he knew why but he couldn't say anything and he couldn't watch her get all drunk again.
So he got up and left. He hadn't even made it halfway down the hallway before he heard her voice. With a sigh he stopped and looked back at her. He looked drained. There was just something in him that didn't want to see her get drunk because she was depressed. He understood drinking for a good time, but this situation didn't call for it. He thought him just being there and watching movies with her would be enough, but apparently it hadn't be. But now she wasn't wanting him to leave, contradicting her previous self. 'I'm leaving AJ.' He took a breath before continuing on. 'But you're coming with me,' he said reaching out his hand.

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
When he said he was leaving, her heart dropped. And when her heart dropped, she immediately questioned herself. Why had she let him get under her skin enough to make her come out here and make a fool of herself? Why had she taken a chance to see if he was going to stay with her because she was lonely, even if it made her look desperate. In her mind, things couldn't have gotten worse, and here they were, lower than low. But when he said she was going with him, her heart that had previously dropped into the pit of her stomach immediately jumped into her through, aware that this was not something characteristic of him. She wasn't going to question it either. She could think about it, go back inside and grab her things and mull over if she should go with him or not, weighing the pros and cons and making a list of whys and why nots and talking herself out of going with him, or she could shut the door behind her, leap into the coming winds, and let the tornado that was Dem Sinclair carry her away to the Land of Oz. She was tired of over thinking so much. She was tired of being responsible. AJ closed the door tight behind her so Gillon couldn't get out and took his hand, no purse, no phone nothing. Their dual beer bottles and the bowl of popcorn still sat on the table, the movie was still running and the bottle of freshly opened, and only slightly drunken Jameson sat here as well. She didn't even think that when Liam came home he might think something was wrong with her being gone but her personal affects being in her room on her bed. She just went with him, getting in the car and not looking back. AJ had no idea where he would take her, but a part of her simply didn't care, and that was the part of her she chose to feed. "Where...are we headed?" She said as the drove along for a few blocks. Dem was glad she took his hand. He knew she needed out of there. Out of the reminders. He led her to his car, getting in and starting in the direction of his apartment. They drove in silence for awhile until AJ asked a question. 'My apartment.' He kept looking forward as he drove trying not to think too hard of what he was doing. 'Just don't tell anyone where it is, ok? I mean back in New York the only person who ever saw my apartment was Hayden. My parents never even came inside. I just...don't like people knowing where I live or coming to my apartment.' He said it so nonchalantly like it didn't matter. Like him taking her to his apartment was no big deal. Not even that, but that she was the first person and probably only ever one of two who would ever go inside. No. Not that big of a deal at all.

AJ sat there, her gaze never really moving from the scenery slowly rolling by outside of the passenger side window. Drinking was causing her to make a complete fool of herself, over and over, and it almost caused Dem to walk out on her, which she still didn't understand. He was Dem Sinclair. He liked to party, he liked to have fun and drink, but ever since the night Liam spazzed, the same night she broke down into drunken tears, he was treating her differently.
She didn't understand it, but a part of her didn't want to.
AJ was cold. She was blunt and she was a hard ass to most who she didn't know, but Dem was immune to her, and that in turn drew her to him, but she didn't know why. Liam had warned her of his lifestyle. She even got to see it first hand, and she was still convinced there was something more to him.
When he mentioned that no one ever went to his apartment, she wondered why. She understood in a sense, though. To her, her condo and her room were her sanctuaries. It was representative of who she was. The only one allowed in was Liam, just like every other aspect of her life. This was different and new.
"So...you're like a hermit or something?" She said, trying her best to lighten the mood. He seemed pretty serious and in the zone since they left, and she wanted to test her limits to see how much she could joke with him right now.
"I mean, even if you were, to each his own."
As they pulled up to his apartment complex, she realized that he didn't live too far from them. In fact, she could walk Gillon to his apartment and back or jog there during her afternoon run. When the car stopped, she got out, waiting to follow him up.

He figured when he mentioned the stuff about his apartment he'd get some comment mocking him. And of course he did. 'No I am not a hermit or something. If I was a hermit or something I would never leave while I am the opposite. I spend most of my time not in my apartment.' Dem really couldn't explain how or why he lived the way he did. He just lived that way. Maybe it was because in boarding school the only real place to get away from everyone was to hide in your room. You could try anywhere else but somehow someone also found you. Although he was pretty sure it wasn't that since he had never been in his room at boarding school.
Dem turned and looked at her rolling his eyes a bit, a hint of a smile. It wasn't like he was actually mad at her. No he hadn't even been when he walked out. It was more disappointment he had felt. Disappointment that he wasn't enough to help her through her current time. Not that he could tell her that he knew. He had gotten the information while she was under the influence so it was something she probably wouldn't have normally told him.
When they reached the apartment he got out, going over to her side and opening the door for her. He helped her out of the car and led her inside of the complex after punching in his code. He led her up the stairs to the second floor and down to the very end of the hall. He unlocked the door and opened it letting her in first, closing and locking the door behind them.
'Well this is it.' It wasn't much. He had yet to really unpack. There were boxes every where. Trash, bubble wrap, torn off packing tape, and packing wrapping paper was strewn over the counters and floors. His mattress was laying on the floor of his room, the pieces to the bed frame leaning against the wall waiting to be assembled. Dem had never been good with unpacking and with spending most of his time out of his own apartment it didn't help the process.

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
Of course she knew that he wasn't a hermit. She kicked herself for even saying it after he answered, but she was in enough of a mood that she didn't let it get to her.
Once they were out of the car, up the stairs, and in the apartment, she was a little surprised to see that the place still looked like he had just moved everything straight off the U-Haul truck. It was a nice size, as far as one bedroom apartments go. It was big enough to suggest that he had money, but just simple enough to scream "Dem".
Something ate away at her though, ever since the car ride over. If he never let anyone in his apartment, why was he letting her? A part of her wanted an explanation, but another part of her was afraid of what the answer would be. He had been so nice to her these last few days, she couldn't help but think in the back of her mind that she had said something or done something while she was depressed and drunk a couple of nights before to make him change his attitude toward her. He insisted she talked about Austin all night, and nothing but Austin, but she couldn't make herself remember. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't. Bits and pieces came to her here and there, like her telling him this was a bad time of year for her and that someone close to her had passed, but that's all she could muster.
If only she could make herself remember.
In her daze, she snapped back to what Dem was saying when he said that this was it.
She walked down the hallway, looking into the bathroom and then his bedroom which was more of a room with a bunch of pieces to furniture in it.
"Need any help putting this stuff together?" She asked, turning back to him and leaning on the wall. "You could always use a second pair of hands." [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: coming | notes: none

Dem looked at her a little weird as she seemed to daze out. He questioned what she was thinking about, but he wouldn't voice his thoughts. No he would just keep it to himself. He was never one to really push people to talk to him. Well that was a lie. He pushed Hayden all the time, but Hayden was like a brother so that was different. And ya he pressed AJ when she was drunk, but she was drunk. It didn't take too much pressuring for her to tell him what was going on in the mind of AJ Solomon.
'Nah it will get done. It always does.' It wasn't as if he was too keen on unpacking anyways. He didn't exactly know how long he was going to be in Easton and he didn't want to unpack and then leave soon after. That just defeated the purpose. What with his band in Vegas it made it tempting to just move there, but for some reason here he was in Easton making the commute to Vegas at least once every two weeks. Not that many people knew that either. There were a short list of people that Dem really let in and for some weird reason AJ was worming her way in and he didn't know how to stop it.
He pulled himself from his own thoughts as he made his way to the kitchen. 'Want something to drink?' he asked pulling down two cups. 'We can finish that movie. I mean even though nothing is unpacked at least there is a couch and a working tv.' No matter where Dem moved he always made sure the first thing that got situated was his tv and the couch. It didn't matter how long he was going to be in the city, those were two essentials for a daily basis.

"Yeah, well, good. Because I wasn't too keen on unpacking your stuff for you." She said with a soft smile. Normally she would be biting his head off with some sarcastic remark, but the mood was solemn. He had actually expressed concern for her well being today, and she was grateful. Most guys were trying to get her into bed, and...well...so was Dem once upon of time, but it was like someone had flipped a switch and he was a much calmer, kinder Dem. It was partially creepy, and partially endearing.
When he asked her if she wanted a drink, she nodded. She wasn't entirely sure if he was talking about alcohol or just something normal. When it came to her friends, she always assumed alcohol was the default drink, but after the way he had acted today when she took the Jameson out of the fridge, she couldn't be too sure. Besides, they had already had a beer back at the condo.
"Anything will do." She said, moving over to the couch slowly and sitting. She was taking in her surroundings. She may never get to come to this place again, at least after he sets it up and unpacks. According to him, no one came here, not even his parents. She'd just enjoy it while she could. AJ knew that if she wanted them to at least be friends, she'd have to be n her best behavior. It was the least she could do. He was helping her keep her lie. He was helping her not look like a skeevy crook to Austin. He was covering her ass. She would at least return the favor by trying to be a good fake-girlfriend.
"And just so you know, fake girlfriends love watching Marvel movies. So since we didn't get to finish the Avengers, I demand something of equal or greater value." She said with a grin as he grabbed the drinks, unconsciously sliding her hands against her pockets.
Oh crap.
She had left her phone.
In all the hustle and bustle, she realized she had left her purse, her license, her keys and everything in the condo. And that Liam was going to be home any minute from class and think she had been abducted or something crazy, and that was not what he needed in a time like this.
"Hey, Dem? Can I borrow your cell?" she asked, hoping maybe she could get a call through to him.

'Well good because I don't want you touching my stuff,' he said sticking out his tongue at her. Ok there was a half truth in that, but most of him was playing around. Ok maybe it was half and half. As open and loud as Dem was you would think that he wasn't so private when it came to his stuff and his apartment, but that really was one area in his life that he was extremely private. He just couldn't help it. It was how he was. Who he was. It was his stuff. His apartment. And he didn't want someone defiling or hurting any of it.
Dem poured them each a coke, adding a bit of Jack into it. It wasn't that he had been against her drinking. He was against her getting totally plastered so that she forgot what was going on around her. That he was against. He walked over to the couch and handed her her drink, setting his down on the ground. 'Well considering this fake boyfriend is a DC man you might not be getting any Marvel when you're in his Fortress of Solitude. We can watch Superman though.' Dem slowly made a move to grab his favorite Superman movie so that he could put it in the dvd player.
He looked at her a bit confused but reached into his pocket regardless and handed her his phone. 'Ya of course. You forget yours?' He figured in the rush they left that she might have. It wasn't as if he told her to leave in such a whirlwind, it just had happened. He also figured she was calling to let Liam know where she was so that he didn't freak out. He just hoped that she didn't mention his apartment.

When he stuck his tongue out at her, she tried not to smile too much. He might think she actually liked him or something. She thought he was cute when he was subdued like this. And yet, he had enough of that disgusting Dem Sinclair charm that she didn't forget who she was talking to. "And I don't mind DC. I'm just glad Christopher Nolan saved the Batman franchise with his genius." She said as he handed her the phone. "Thanks." She went to find Liam's number in his contacts, and scrolled through with her finger. There were so many contacts in his phone, mostly girls, and by the time he go to the L's to find Liam, she had gone through twelve letters worth of multiple female names in each letter. There were at least three Ashley's, a two Brittney's, and two Catherine's, one of them with a K, and even some who she thought she may have recognized from Easton, but she tried her best not to try and figure out who they were. It was better to not know every girl Dem had ever slept with, lest she stumble upon one of her friends names and started all kinds of awkward in her brain. Finally she dialed Liam, but his phone went to voice mail. He was probably not out of class just yet. "Lam, its Andy, I went out...uh...I'm out with Dem. I was so in a rush I left everything out and my purse and phone and could you call me when you get this? Ok. Love you. Bye." She pressed the end button, then went into his text messages to see if she could leave him a text. Yet again, a ton of texts from girls, only most of them were to Dem, and it seemed like he hadn't texted most of them back, if any of them. Classic Dem. She quickly tapped out a text and sent it saying that it was her texting from Dem's phone, knowing Liam would more than likely see that before he checked his voice mail. "Here you go." She said, quickly handing the phone back to him. She never wanted to use his phone again. "Okay...so...Superman. The man of steel. Lets do this." 'He really did. I'm ready for the new Superman movie to come out though.' Dem had always been a Superman fanatic. Him and Dondo had always had this weird friendship where he was Superman and Dondo was Batman and well they just fit and they took their roles seriously. It was funny how protective the two of them could be, especially if someone didn't know Dem well enough to know that he was more than a walking whore bag who screwed basically anything.
'You're welcome.' He watched her face as she scrolled through his contacts, cursing himself and wishing that he had opened Liam's contact information for her. He took a deep breath and turned his back to her, going to place the dvd in the player, rather not wanting to watch her go through his phone. He listened to her leave the voicemail and figured that was the end of it. Plus the dvd was in so there was no more stalling.
He made his way back to the couch, taking a seat, just as she went into his text messages to text Liam. Once again there was a pit in his stomach and he couldn't exactly explain why he hated her seeing all of the unanswered messages. He made a mental note that he not only needed to clean out his inbox, but his contacts. He took his phone back trying to smile. 'Ok ya let's start this.' He took the remote and pressed play before grabbing his drink and taking a sip.

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
When the movie started, she didn't say much. She honestly didn't know what to say. He had been pretending to be her boyfriend, and before, it was annoying. He was just a prick about it and wanted to see her squirm as much as possible. It actually seemed to bring him pleasure to see her uncomfortable, but now he was singing a different tune. She eyed him at first, but she let herself lean into him after the movie had been on for a few minutes. If they were going to be convincing to Austin and Mia, maybe Dem was right -- although he's never tell him that -- in that they should do some fake-boyfriend and girlfriend things to make everything look and feel more natural. It was bad enough they seemed so awkward in the chat the week before, and Nate, Jay, and Dylan not knowing what was going on didn't help. She could already tell from their talks and their texts that he wasn't sure, so now this dinner was twice as important than it was before. At first it was so she could save face in front of him and his girlfriend, and not look like the liar she actually was. Now it was to make sure she didn't lose him as a friend because of her stupid actions. Either way, she had gained Dem as a friend. And that was the one diamond in the rough that she never saw coming. She let herself lean into him, putting her head on his shoulder. As the movie went on, she felt herself getting more and more sleepy, exhausted from finals and class and everything else she was going through during a time like this. Her mind drifted to Liam and if he was okay, and if he needed her. A part of her felt guilty for not being there with him right now, as she was every year during this time. They had always forsaken all others during this time so they could comfort each other, but this time things were much more complicated. As the movie rolled on, she felt herself drifting on with it, her eyes getting heavier and heavier until she fell asleep. Dem tried his hardest not to smile as AJ leaned her head on his shoulder. He let his arm wrap around her, rubbing her arm softly. He figured she would fall asleep soon and he found a part of him glad that she would be spending the night at his apartment. Girls never spent the night at his apartment. Ever. And he liked keeping it that way. And yet here he was glad that AJ would be cuddled up next to him in his bed that night.
His mind wandered to the whole fake relationship thing. Sure it was fake but it all was beginning to feel so real. And he couldn't stop himself from thinking that maybe they should just make it real. He caught himself smiling at the thought and shook it away. This was not like him. AJ had some weird voodoo grasp over him and he didn't know how to shake it or if he even wanted to.
When he was positive she was out cold he slipped from out from under her, taking the glasses to the kitchen and turning off the movie. He then proceeded to go and pick her up, caring her into his room and laying her on the mattress. He changed into sweatpants and crawled into bed next to her, pulling the blanket over them and pulling her close. Soon Dem was falling asleep to thoughts of them and the relationship becoming not so fake.
