Dem honestly had zero idea what he was doing. All he knew was one second he was laying on the ground staring at the ceiling and the next he was calling up Hayden giving him directions to his apartment. And soon after that somehow there were candles and rose petals all around his Fortress of Solitude. It was official, Dem had gone certifiably insane. He didn't even understand what he was doing. This was all just fake. And it would end after the double date. So what was he even doing right now. He didn't even know what he was going to say.
So here he was standing in the middle of his bedroom in dim lighting with basically just candles around him so he could see more than his hand in front of his face in the dark waiting for AJ to come over. He had texted her and asked her over and this was big for him. Sure he had her over the night before but here he was having her over a second night in a row. Ya he needed to be sent to the crazy house. His heart jumped as he heard a knock on the door and he swallowed hard so his voice didn't show his nerves. 'It's open.'

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
This was all just moving so fast. Maybe she could blame it on the fact the she was grieving. She'd lost someone dear to her on May 12th, so maybe she was emotional and vulnerable and stupid, but there was something about Dem she loved and hated and loved to hate and hated to love all at the same time. He was pushy, arrogant and a show boater who had minimum interest in anyone else other than himself, and yet he kept coming back. He kept spending time with her. He claimed it was because of the fact that they were pretending to be in a relationship, but something in his recent actions told her different. Maybe it was an elaborate scam to get her back in bed again, or maybe he just enjoyed playing with her, but when he texted her, it was quick and straight to the point and it seemed important. He asked her to come over for something, what she didn't know. She almost decided not to, but she told Liam she would be out for a while and she would be back as soon as possible anyway, curiosity getting the best of her. Once she pulled up outside of his apartment, she looked up where his window would have been and sat in her car for awhile, genuinely wondering if she should even entertain this, or just turn around and go home. But she had come all the way here, she might as well see it through. When she got upstairs and knocked, she heard him say come in, and she did, slowly opening the door. I was dark, and there were candles everywhere, and rose petals on the floor leading to his room. She hesitated a moment, then moved to the doorway. He was there, and she was standing there staring at everything in front of her. "Wh-what...what is this." She knew what it looked like, but because it was Dem, her brain told her different. "Is this a part of your fake-boyfriend training? A candle lit romantic night? Dem, you don't have to do all of this--" [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: here | notes: -- [/style] |

He got even more nervous when he saw AJ walk in, if that was even possible. He was pretty sure that his heart was just about to beat out of his chest and he would just fall over dead. And he was pretty sure he could fill ten buckets with all the sweat that was coming off of his hands. Actually his hands weren't sweating, he just thought they were because he was so nervous and most people's palms sweat when they got nervous. No his heart just pounded a million miles an hour and it made him want to grab a hold of it and tell it that it needed to take a chill pill. She was just a girl.
But she really wasn't. She had started to be so much more.
'Well I've been thinking. Recently we've had a lot of fun with this whole fake relationship thing. So I was thinking what if it was real?' Dem knew that it had only been a week and it seemed like it was moving fast, but it wasn't as if he had just met her. He had met her in passing a fair few times before and even though she didn't know he knew he felt closer to her by knowing about what this week was.

Everything stopped. Her heart began to beat into her chest when he started talking, and when he talked about making it real, she flushed, her head swimming and her ears becoming muffled. She could literally feel her heart beating as it dropped into her stomach and then her stomach dropped into her feet. There was just to many emotions, too much stimuli and now this. AJ was caught completely off guard, and that never really happened with her. She had the mind of a detective, the type of mind that knew how to piece together clues and cues and evidence, and now she was completely knocked off of her feet with what he was saying. Perhaps if it had been anyone else, she could have read the signs that this was coming, but is was Dem. Dem asking her out was the exact last thing she would have ever imagined happening right now. "Wait, I...I don't get it. Do you mean like. Us making it real so we can...break up or whatever? Or like...I don't...." She wanted to understand. She wanted to know exactly what he was thinking but that was impossible. So far he had become this massive enigma that just kept getting more and more complicated. She moved into the room toward him, looking around at the room. He had put all of the boxes and away and put a lot of time and effort into this. "You want to do what, now? I think...I need to sit down." [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: here | notes: -- [/style] |

Dem could feel her waiver a bit as he asked her. His nerves peaked. What if she said no? What if she just left? Was this all for nothing? For once he was trying and as the silent seconds passed it seemed that maybe he should have chosen to just continue on his path of different girls every night and not letting anyone in.
'No I mean like dating. I mean we are already acting like it and it can be taken slow but I just like spending time with you and...I'm rambling.' He shut his mouth after taking a deep breath, hoping that he made sense. He wished that the deep breath he had taken would have calmed him down, but no such luck. No his heart was still racing and he was pretty sure that if it was a horse in a horse race it would have lapped every other horse twelve times over already.
He took her hand and led her to the couch, sitting her down. 'Look I want to be your boyfriend. Nothing fake about it. I have never done this so it's freaking me out and I know it's soon, but I felt like if I didn't do it fast I would convince myself not to.' He knew himself well enough to know that he would do that. He had talked himself out of many things before and this would have been no different if he hadn't jumped on it.

"Dem, do you even know what you're saying right now? A relationship?" She leaned back against the wall and sighed. "I haven't been in a serious relationship since Austin, Dem. And that was...wow. That was junior year of high school. I've dated since then, but your first love is not just something you get over that easily." It was her fault she still wasn't over Austin. When he left to go to California, they broke it off on good terms, agreeing that long distance wasn't the best option. He didn't want her changing her future plans for him. And she didn't want to hold him back from going to the west coast. But a part of her held out hope that he would come back one day, or at least they would meet again, and everything would be so perfect that they would pick up where they left off. Not so much. When he came back, it did seem like old times, but now he was with Mia. That was enough to make her come up with this crazy lie about being with Dem, and thus she had brought herself to this point where she was standing in his bedroom in the apartment he never let anyone into, with the most romantic setting, and she was shocked and in awe of what to say or do. She liked him, but she was also scared and confused and she didn't know why. "You don't even know me, Dem. Its been a week. And I'm so many things you probably can't handle." She moved over to the bed and sat down, counting on her fingers the reasons he couldn't be asking her this. "I'm stubborn, I'm disagreeable, I'm grumpy when I want to be, I'm a wise ass, I'm afraid of commitment, I'm not even sure if I know how to be in a relationship anymore after holding on to something that obviously means nothing after all these years...I'm broken. Imperfect. Shattered." She looked up at him. "Why do you want that?" 'Yes I know what I am saying AJ.' He knew exactly what he was saying. He knew he wanted a relationship with AJ. The fact that he never wanted a relationship before and he wanted one now was saying something. AJ just seemed different. And he wasn't going to let that go.
'Because I'm perfect. We both are messed up. Let's just be messed up together.' It made sense to him. They both had baggage. So why not just have their baggage together. He laid down next to her, pulling her close to him and holding her tight. 'I'm not taking no for an answer AJ because I know you want it too.'

When he laid down next to her and pulled her close, those dual parts of her psyche kicked in. She never let any man get close to her like that, and her first instinct was to push him away and get up and run. But she let him hold her. It was new. It was nice. She slipped her hand over his, nestling under the arm that was wrapped around her. But her mind couldn't help go back to everything that was going on this weekend and this week. She had one last class to go to tomorrow to turn in a paper to, Liam was probably frustrated and sad and upset right now because of what Sunday was, Austin was looking forward to her meeting Mia and she wasn't at all looking forward to meeting this woman, and none of her friends really knew what was going on in her life. She felt confused and isolated and guilty for laying here with him right now. There was too much going on to think about relationships. "Dem, can you just...give me some time to think about this? What it means? To process what I need to process before I can think of a definite answer?" She couldn't say no, because a part of her didn't want to. But the logical part of her demanded that she could not say yes. "Lets just...think about it." She closed her eyes and let her thoughts drift away. There were thoughts of her past mingled with thoughts of her present, tangled within thoughts of her future. The baby, high school, Austin, Liam, Dem, and Harvard Law School all floated around, crashing into each other breaking into pieces and shattering, all mixed in with each other. She wouldn't think anymore. She couldn't. She would just sleep. Dem liked laying there with AJ in his arms. It was different than his usual interactions with females and he really liked it. This was worth it. She was worth it. He didn't know what it was about her, but she made him want to try and be better. Not only that she calmed him, a feat that not really anyone could do. Not even the only other girl he had let into his life. No they had just ran off and were wild together. Not AJ though. He could have fun with her, but at the same time he could just lay there like this and be totally content.
He barely heard the words that she had spoken because he was so relaxed laying there with her in his arms. He yawned and pulled her a little closer before nodding. 'Mmhmm.' He wasn't even exactly sure what he was agreeing to, but it was AJ so it didn't matter. He would do anything for the girl so he would nod and agree and just hold her tightly because the closer he held her the better he seemed to feel. And soon he had drifted off into a deep sleep with his arms wrapped around her and his face nuzzled in her hair.
