can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
You know how when life seems to cooperate with you for a really long time, then all of a sudden, it hands you lemons, slices them open, and then squirts the juice in your eye?
Yeah, that was the life of Alexandra Jade Solomon right this moment.
Better known as A.J., Alexandra was no your regular rich kid. That was mainly due to the fact that...well...she wasn't rich at all. She never had been. You didn't need to be rich when your best friend was a McKaye, or a Legacy in general. The Legacies ran Easton and everything in it, and she was just along for the ride. But that had never made a difference to her. A.J. was the type to earn her way. She wanted to feel like everything she had really was hers. Why is this so important you say? Because to understand A.J., you must understand that everything she has that she calls her own, she worked for. When she wanted something, there was no stopping her until she got it.
So she wasn't used to guys like Dem.
Demetrius Orion Sinclair, better known to the upper echelon of people in this town as Dem, was an enigma to her to say the least. She didn't know much about him other than he was one of Liam's friends, the Sinclairs being close with the Legacies of Easton. He would come and go some summers, but they never really talked, and she was sure when she was younger, she wasn't the type of girl he'd go for. Skinny with braces, hair always in a pony tail, played basketball and softball and who liked watching football. She was never the girl to be a cheerleader, or even the cool scene kid with the tattoos and the cool hair. She never rocked the boat or did anything out of the ordinary. She was just plain old A.J. in high school, the tom boy with the boy's name. Even her boyfriend in high school called her Alex. It was just who she was.
But after Dem went to college -- after they all went -- they saw him less and less. And now all of a sudden, he'd popped up in a weekend and was inviting everyone out to party and drink just to celebrate the fact that he was moving to Easton, VA. Even AJ had been invited.
After much deliberation with Liam and Eoin, and even much more whining, she obliged.
The story didn't quite end how she expected though. After an awkward drunken night and an even more awkward drunken morning, she found herself almost a week later, thinking about him. A part of her regretted what had happened between them, but another part of her was still intrigued. And the thoughts of what happened wrapped around her mind as she pressed the key into the door and headed into the condo after coming home from a late class. It was almost 9:30 by the time she had left the campus and grabbed some takeout, her stomach purring at her in anticipation..
"Down girl..." She muttered as her stomach echoed in the empty kitchen of her and Liam's condo. She set the large brown paper bag filled with sesame chicken and pork fried rice on the counter and proceeded to turn on the lights.
"Lammy?" She called down the hallway, pulling off her jacket. If it was this late and he wasn't here, he was probably somewhere cuddling with Eoin. As cute as they were AJ couldn't help but feel a little jealous. She wanted that someday, but right now with school and trying to keep her head on straight, love just wasn't a possibility she could calculate into her schedule.
She grabbed her food and opened it all, then sat it on the coffee table and grabbed the remote, flipping lazily through the channels. This was her typical Thursday. Takeout alone and some cheesy Lifetime movie.
"Whoa there old girl, don't have too much fun. You might pull a hamstring or something..." She said to herself mockingly as she pulled out a pair of chopsticks and dug into her food. "...here's to another night. Alone."

Dem was bored out of his mind. He just got back to Easton and sure he had a million things to do, but he was so over it. The boxes were at least all in the correct rooms. That's what mattered the most. He would get everything unpacked eventually. But that could be saved for a later date. It was getting late and there was no way that Dem was spending the night alone in his new apartment. Especially since he had friends in Easton. It wasn't as if he had to go and make all new friends. No his friends here were built in. He just had to go and get them. First on the list, Liam.
He pet Hemingway as he walked out the door, grabbing his keys, and was off. He was pretty sure he remembered how to get to Liam's apartment from where he now lived. Especially since he had left where the place the day after his huge return party. He smirked thinking about A.J. He had met her a few times prior to the party and had always vowed to himself that one day he would get in her pants. And well he did. And now that that was done he could move on and see if Liam had any other hot girl friends who he would never try anything with that Dem could give a "comforting shoulder".
When he reached the house the door was locked. He sighed and reached in his pocket hoping he had something. He smirked pulling out a bobby pin, getting on his knees and working on the door. After about ten minutes he finally got the lock free and was inside. 'Hello?' Silence. He let the door close behind him, locking it so no one suspected, and made his way to Liam's room. He flopped on the bed and stared at the ceiling hoping his friend would be back soon.
He sat up when he heard a slightly familiar voice, a smirk growing on his face. He made his way slowly towards where she probably was, trying not to laugh at the comments she was making to herself. He moved to the door frame of the living room, looking at A.J. with a cheshire grin on his face. He cleared his throat, still grinning, and waiting for her to notice him.

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
AJ sat there for a few moments, flipping through channels with one hand and balancing a morsel between the chopstick in her other, but before she could even get to her channel of choice, she felt another presence standing in the doorway.
She turned to look to see who was casting the ominous shadow on the carpet and gasped, dropping her chopsticks and consequentially dropping the saucy sesame chicken onto her lap and then onto the carpet. As it fell, in her mind everything went in slow motion, even the impact and the tiny bounce it made seemed to take forever. It rolled a few inched, leaving a brown streak on Liam's carpet.
She was going to die.
"For fucks sake, Dem, what the hell?" She said, reaching quickly for a paper napkin and pickng up the chicken carefully. Immediately she stood and headed to the kitchen, slightly nudging him as she walked past. She dropped the paper napkin into the bin, then reached and grabbed the roll of papertowels off the holder.
"How long have you been in here? You know what, don't answer that." She said, bending over and opening the cabinet door under the sink to try and find some carpet cleaner. Liam kept tons of the stuff everywhere. Carpet cleaner, Comet, Lysol, Bleach, Goo Gone, Brillo Pads, anything that cleans, you name it he had it. She quickly grabbed the spray cleaner and stood back up and looked at him, her face clearly shouting her disapproval. "The more pressing question is how did you get into my condo."
She moved back in his direction with her paper towels and spray, bumping him again, then dropped down on her hands and knees so she could spray and scrub. Liam was highly neurotic when it came to keeping things clean and in order, and if she didn't want to cause a meltdown, she needed to make sure his carpet looked exactly how he left it.
"I thought you had your own place now. It's been a week. You should have been unpacked and all moved in my now." She sat up on her knees after scrubbing a little and looked over her shoulder. "And sleeping in your own bed."

Dem kept smirking as he watched AJ and had to stifle a laugh as he watched the meatball roll off of her lap and onto Liam’s carpet. He knew what a neat freak his friend was. Which made the thing all the more hilarious. He knew there was no way she was going to get that stain out of the carpet. He knew it. Which meant that soon their entire apartment would probably have new carpet just because of one little meatball.
He continued smirking as she nudged him as she walked past. He knew she sounded angry, but he also knew that she loved that he was there. Who wouldn’t? He was Demetrius Sinclair. There wasn’t a person who didn’t love when he was around. Even if they acted like they were annoyed, they really weren’t.
‘I lost track of time. Could have been minutes. Or hours. Maybe even days.’ The smirk that was on his face stayed firmly planted there. He loved getting under her skin. And it was so easy to do. So why not do it? ‘I have my ways. It’s not just your condo. Just don’t worry about it.’ He figured keeping it a mystery was better than telling her that he broke in. He liked to keep that little talent hidden. Safely kept away for when he needed it most.
‘Bump me again and you’ll give me the wrong idea.’ He moved over and sat on the arm of the couch watching her clean the stain on the carpet with amusement dancing in his eyes. ‘I do. Not unpacked. Like bugging you too much.’

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
"Well, that's just means we need to get the locks changed. Also, you'd have to be either Harry Houdini, ninja, or a helluva good stalker to have been hiding out here for days."
She looked down at the spot she had been scrubbing. It looked decent and clean enough, but knowing Liam, he could see the fibers were not all going in the same direction or something, or could sense the moisture on the carpet with his super OCD powers. At least this would buy her some time, and he wouldn't freak out as much.
Also, she cared more about how Liam would react that the fact that he wouldn't reveal how he got into their apartment.
"Should I get a security system or something installed? It seems like that might be the next course of action." She stood up and brushed off her hands then went back, bumping his leg as he sat on the couch, on the way to the kitchen.
"I'm pretty sure any idea you get is the wrong one, Dem." She said matter-of-factly, putting the cleaning supplies back where she got them, then walking back and sitting down.
"Oh, aw, you like bugging me? Lucky me." She said in with a sing-songy snark. "I guess that's what you do with every girl. Sleep with her and then come back and annoy her? The ladies must flock to you." [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: coming | notes: none

Dem just rolled his eyes a little. 'Getting the locks changed won't keep me out. Sorry to disappoint you. And who knows, I might be all three.' There was probably a smirk permanently placed on Dem's face at all times. It was just in his nature. He knew the words to say to push anyone's buttons and the exact words to get them to eat out of the palm of his hand. Sure he was annoying AJ now, but he knew that she couldn't resist him, no matter how annoying he was.
Dem looked down at the spot and laughed a bit. 'He's still going to know you dropped something.' Dem knew Liam. he was more than OCD and just scrubbing up the mess wasn't going to make him not notice. Liam had this weird super power of knowing something was out of place even if the mess had already been cleaned up. He was a freak like that.
'I'd probably get past that too. I'm like James Bond. Can't stop me.' Once again the smirk on his face grew. Ok maybe he wasn't James Bond, but he knew that he could get past some cheap security system that they put into their apartment. They would probably make the passcode really easy to break anyways.
'Is that so? I think you just keep bumping me so that you can touch me. Do it again and see what happens.' A daring gleam entered his eye as he looked over at AJ. He knew that the bumps probably meant nothing, but he was Dem and he always had to escalate things. 'No. Just special girls like you. Special ones who are roommates with one of my best friends. You should feel honored really. I never come back.' It was true. Dem usually slept with the girl and never came back. The only reason he was bothering with AJ was because she lived with Liam so it was a little hard to avoid.

"I think I'll take my chances." She said in response to him saying that nothing could keep him out. He had that right. From what she heard about Dem, he got what he wanted when he wanted it, and there wasn't much people could do to stop him. And from what she learned about him he was arrogant, cocky, self centered, and over confident. Each of those words could have played synonym to each other, but in the case of Demetrius Sinclair, each one was still necessary to describe the utterly disgusting amount of conceit he had.
But AJ had an ego of her own, and just as much stubbornness. So she wasn't the type to just fall for him or either back down from him. If he wanted to pretend he was Mr. God's Gift To Women, she would let him. In his presumptuous little mind, she was sure he was already thinking that she was totally in love with him right now and that she was juts denying her feelings.
At this point -- this very second -- that was the farthest from the truth.
"I can't believe you just...did you just say James Bond? Really? Really?" she replied, unsure if he was serious or not. Sadly, he probably was.
"That would explain a lot. A different girl every mission, right?" The words slipped from her lips before she could get them back. Luckily, she didn't make a reference to Bond Girl's, because then he would have taken that and thrown their one time together back in her face. She promised she'd never get that drunk again, especially not around Dem.
When he called her 'special' and said that she should be lucky because he never comes back, at that very moment she felt more like the unlucky one. What she wouldn't give right now for Dem not to ever come back to this place. Yeah, she'd talk to Liam about new locks very soon.
She sighed, rubbing her temples in the process.
"Look, I know you and Liam are friends. So I know we will be seeing a lot more of each other. But can we at least just...never bring up that night again?" She asked, closing her eyes tight as her fingers continued to massage the sides of her head.
"I think it would just be easier for everyone involved -- and everyone not involved if we just never mentioned each other names to anyone ever again."

'Well the chances are in my favor,' he said with a smirk. Dem was master of getting what he wanted. He had been practicing since he was born and her twenty-three years later he was still getting whatever he wanted. It was a rare occasion when Dem didn't get his way. He could probably count on one hand how many times in the end he didn't get his way. And this situation was no exception.
'Me and him are one. I mean can't you just see the resemblance? Shaken not stirred.' The smirk on Dem's face grew a bit. This was more of a joke between him and his college buddies so it wasn't as if AJ would really understand, but he would talk about it anyways. 'Of course. I'm on my quest for the next one. You know... He eyed her a bit, obviously playing around. Sure he had slept with AJ already and sure she was good, but she was Liam's friend. She was just on his long list of hit it and quit it. Even though in this weird situation he was going to continue to see her because she lived with one of his best friends.
'Are you sure you want to easily forget the best night of your life? Excuse me it was the morning.' He raised an eyebrow trying to let his smirk remain instead of turning into a self-righteous smile. 'Fine I will never mention your name again and you will never mention mine. Simple as that. In fact I forgot what your name was entirely already. Madison? Jordan? Hilary? Alexandra?' He smirked at the last one knowing full well that that was what her first name was. He liked to see her squirm though. It was fun.

can we just forget the morning, like nothing went wrong
She rolled her eyes as he mentioned the who James Bond thing again.
"Yeah, I'll pass thanks. Once was enough." They had spent so much time snarking at each other, she didn't even realize that she was forgetting to eat. AJ was usually the first of everyone to dive into food, but Dem was 40% human and 60% distraction. There was no way she could ever get around to eating with him sitting in here with her. She put her food back in the brown paper bag and took it back into the kitchen, setting it on the table.
"Forget the best night of my life? Are you kidding me? Where do you get these lines." She said, almost choking on the laugh that erupted from her. "And the fact that you pretty much say these things with a straight face? Wow."
She held her hands out in front of her and began to slow clap. "Jolly good show, old bean. Smashing job."
She pulled out her food again, this time a little less nervous about eating it, but still careful because even though it wasn't a carpet, Liam could still sniff out a crumb from a five block radius. She poised her fingers with the chopsticks in them, ready to try again at eating dinner.
"As far as you know, I'm Hillary. And never call me Alexandra again unless you want to be dislodging a chopstick from your eye socket."
She picked up a tiny piece of sesame chicken and popped it in her mouth. No one ever called her Alexandra. The closest anyone got to it was Austin and that's because he called her Alex. Liam called her Andy. Everyone else called her AJ. None of her nicknames were very feminine and she liked it that way. Her mother had always called her Alexandra because she said it was pretty. If there was one thing she hated growing up, it was being called 'cute' or 'pretty'. She just wanted to be treated like one of the guys, because it was just easier that way.
"I'm sure that's easy enough for you, right? Forgetting a girls name after having sex with her? Don't think you have to leave me off that list." [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: coming | notes: --

'That's what they all say. And then they all come crawling back. Don't worry I'll make an exception for you.' It was like Dem was programmed to be the ultimate player douche. It just was who he was. The lines rolled off his tongue and for the most part it got girls between the sheets. Multiple times if he chose. Most times he left it at one and done, but there were those few girls that were good enough for a second go round. AJ happened to be one of those girls that he wouldn't mind a second, or even a third, go at. She was hot and he would admit she was good in bed even if he wouldn't tell her that.
'They are programmed into my mind. Mostly because they are true.' That signature Sinclair smirk just stayed on his face. He knew that AJ's words were saying no, but her actions, especially her actions that morning, were all pointing to yes. He just wondered how many more buttons he would have to push to get his way.
'Oh but I really like Alexandra. I think I'll stick with that one. Sounds like a name of a naughty school girl.' He made his way towards her, getting into her personal bubble. Close enough that she could probably smell the body spray that was a stable in Dem's wardrobe. Dem didn't leave his apartment without making sure he was appropriately covered in Old Spice Fiji. He wasn't fully dressed without it. 'Oh but Alexandra you are such a special case why would I ever put you on that list?' Dem's face was mere inches from hers as he looked down at her, his voice low and seductive. Of course he knew soon he would pull away. Reel her in and then take away what she thought she had.

"Then maybe you need to de-program them because they're pretty lame." He was flustering her, but she wouldn't let on. It took quite a bit to fluster her, to get her out of sorts, but Dem continued to bring up that one drunken mistake. It wasn't like she had never had a one night stand before. It was just the one she had before him was, well, just that. One night. She made the mistake of letting it be someone she could potentially see every day. Not only that, she made the mistake of letting that someone be Dem.
He started to walk across the room as he spoke, standing over her and leering, and then moving in closely. There were two things AJ hated: someone standing over her and talking to her while she was sitting, and her personal space being invaded. Both of them put her into attack formation, kicking in her fight or flight response. And although she knew Dem was harmless, it was an automatic reaction to retaliate.
When his face came close to hers, she tried to resist the urge to headbutt him or poke him in the throat with her chopsticks. Instead she stabbed them into her rice and took a deep breath with her eyes closed, and then leaned back in her chair with her elbow on the table and her hand propping her head up.
"You either have a death wish or either you are really, really stupid."
She slid her chair back and stood, but they were still face to face.
"I'm banking on the second."
She put both hands on his chest and firmly pushed him back, opting to leave her dinner in the dining room and head back into the kitchen to the fridge.
"You know, I can just get Liam to kick you out when he gets here. He likes me better than you, you know. Best friend code and all." [style= font family: arial; font-size: 10px; text-align:center; color: #252525; padding-bottom: 8px;] tagged: Dem | outfit: coming | notes: --

Dem shook his head with a small roll of his eyes. 'You're just saying that because they are getting to you and you don't want me to know.' Dem liked winning and he knew in this situation he was winning. Even if nothing came out of it today he knew that he was in AJ's head and that was right where he wanted to be. That left it open for him to make his final move later and then most likely just add her to his list and be done with her other than the occasional annoyance whenever he came over to see Liam.
'Don't deny that you like me this close.' He could tell she was uncomfortable, but that wasn't something that he really cared about. He let her push him away, taking a few more steps back. 'Well if you really want me gone that badly then I guess I'll just leave. But you know I'll be in your mind.' Dem made a few more steps towards the door, his smirk having grown all it could.

With a sigh, she leaned on the fridge and shook her head. "Bye Dem."
The closer he got to the door, the better she felt. The last thing she wanted to do was give him a reason to stay here any longer. His ego was so inflated that it was taking of most of the oxygen in the room, and she needed to breathe. She had just turned in two term papers and took one of her finals. There was only one more week of class for her, and it wasn't even mandatory. All she wanted to do was end her school year on a non stressful note and get ready for summer break and then her last year. She also didn't want him here when Liam got back, because they last thing she needed to explain to him was that Dem had broken in some how and was chilling in their condo waiting. She also wanted to clean a little more and eat her dinner, and that was proving to be difficult with Dem around.
"Oh, and as a good hostess, I normally say we should do this again, but I don't think I will this time." She moved over to the door as he opened it and got ready to step out. He was moving pretty slow, as if he were waiting to hear everything on her mind. He loved getting a rise out of her. He loved her snarky remarks to his assholishness. And she didn't want to oblige him, but she did anyway because there was no other way of getting through to Dem.
When he took his first step out, she pressed a hand on his back, pushing him out quicker than he was moving.
"Oh and, expect a security system to be installed next time when you try the whole ninja cat burglar thing, kay?" And without waiting for an answer, she shut the door and locked it, as well as the two deadbolts, and went back to the table to finish her dinner.
