[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: 101010; border: #262626 solid 10px; width: 515px; padding: 5 5 5 5px;]It was warming up now, enough that even though it was getting later on in the day and toward evening, Nic didn’t need a jacket just yet as she made her way back to the Dulcinea dorm building from the library. Another hour or so and she might have needed one, probably, but she wasn’t complaining, she’d been getting sick and tired of the constant awful weather and snow that had been present in Easton over winter. She didn’t do cold weather well, not this kind of cold anyway, it was what happened when you grew up in California then got shipped off to Virginia for high school.
Whilst she had never felt uneasy walking around the school alone before now, and she had been going to school here since freshman year, lately it made her feel a little jumpy. People disappearing and dying left right and centre and everything about it just felt really, really weird. Whilst she didn’t think that she was in any actual danger herself, the last thing she wanted to do was… she didn’t know, come across a dead body or something being killed, or something of a similar thing. Kendall had sent her a can of pepper spray when she’d heard about it all, which they had joked about but she actually had bothered to put it in her bag these days, but that was about all. At least she was a fast runner, which did give her some small amount of consolation.
Approaching the building that was the girl’s dormitories, she vaguely contemplated what the food situation was like up in her dorm… having moved recently into a new dorm room, she wasn’t really sure by this point whether or not her new roommate was one of those ones who just ate everything they found, or whether she would stick to her own food or not… not that Nic could even remember what she actually had up there to eat, which was a problem in itself. She’d probably get up there, find nothing, and end up having to go out for dinner or she’d just starve until morning. Or she’d be stuck eating a bowl of cereal or something. - - - - - - - - - - and when it rains on this side of town it touches everything, just say it again and mean it, we don't miss a thing, you made yourself a bed at the bottom of the blackest hole and convinced yourself that it's not the reason you don't see the sun anymore |

If there was one major complain about his life, it’d be the fucking rooming situation at this school. Alex had been spoiled for most of his life, with no siblings he hadn’t ever had to share anything. Of course, being a student on a scholarship and coming to Videlict meant that well – he had roommates. Ones that drove him absolutely crazy to the point where he had begged the councillors along with his parents to get him a different room arrangement. Which so far was so good, but apparently he couldn’t have his own room so all this was only temporary. Alex was just counting the days down until university because maybe, just maybe then he wouldn’t end up with some psychotic roommate. He could go home, of course – go to school in Wellington and live with his parents… but after a taste of freedom there was no way he could ever go back.
His parents drove him crazy – he couldn’t tell if his roommates or his parents were worse, and Alex would be much happier without either breathing down his neck all the time. He just wanted to be alone, it wasn’t a hard concept. He just wanted to be left to his own things without having the strain of someone breathing down his neck. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case, and Alex was just counting down the days until that wouldn’t happen again. Pressing his face against his desk, he groaned to himself amongst the loud clutter of people in the classroom. Five minutes left of class, and his stomach felt like it was going to eat itself – the chattering people in the background did not help his short set patience. Lifting his head up, he stared at the clock. He didn’t want to pull his phone out. He couldn’t risk getting in shit.
The bell chiming was a blessing, and Alex was off of his seat within about three seconds. Adjusting his backpack, he shuffled his way out. He couldn’t handle another night of food from his dorm, and with little desire to cook he made his way toward the parking lot as fast as he could. Pausing mid step when he noticed Nicole by the back of her head, he grinned to himself as the idea hit him – why not? Grabbing her by the arm as he walked past, he pulled her off in the direction he was heading. “Good evening,” he greeted with a quick glance down at her, tugging her out (rather gently) toward his car. “We’re going to get dinner.” Not that he was giving her a chance to disagree.

It wasn’t that she hated everyone she went to school with… she was just a naturally impatient person to begin with and half of them really didn’t help that fact. Although, she supposed that she could always go and seek out Penny, if she wasn’t with her cousin, which was always a possibility.
She hadn’t really been paying attention as her thoughts wandered, not noticing the sound of footsteps approaching behind her until someone had grabbed her arm, making her jump nearly a foot in surprise, although she quickly settled again as she recognised the voice of the person who had done it. She turned her head to glare at Alex – more of a half-hearted glare than an actually annoyed one – but she let him pull her along nonetheless. “What are you trying to do Alex, give me a heart attack?” she said, shifting her bag slightly on her shoulder so it was sitting more comfortably.
“Where do you plan on taking me then?” she asked, not really disagreeing with the whole going out to dinner with him thing because, well, she had been planning to go out and get something to eat anyway so it wasn’t like he was interrupting anything. And even if she wouldn’t admit it to him out loud, he happened to be one of the few people that didn’t make her want to strangle them – even if that had been the complete opposite of how she had felt about him when they had first met. away from what they say, we beat the odds and made it through the day, remember our first kiss we made under the night we felt alive, we knew that it was right, the kiss will live just like it's breathing, and when everything seems lost, just know you'll find me there, yeah, you'll find me waiting there, because we know |

[/div] He chuckled at her surprise, but that didn’t stop him from continuing to drag her off. She needed to be on her toes, in his opinion. Especially with the history that the school had as of late. He was doing her a favor, that was for sure in his head. If she wasn’t prepared for anything, who knows what could happen to her? The thought caused him to chuckle a bit, pulling her along toward his car a bit faster. There were days like this where he was really, really glad his mother had gotten his vehicle shipped down – it made his life a lot easier and he couldn’t actually imagine not having one. Being stuck on the campus the whole time probably would have caused him to lose his mind by now.
“Me? Give you a heart attack? I would never try and do such things. I’m just trying to spice your life up, you know. Gotta keep you on your toes somehow.” Grinning over at her, his hand dived in to his pocket to wrap around his keys. When she asked where they were going, that just brought up a whole new issue in itself considering Alex wasn’t entirely sure. Somewhere quick and easy would be ideal, he didn’t exactly have the money to be eating out at the diner every night like it seemed some of the kids here did – or a majority of them when he considered the legacies.
“I haven’t decided yet,” he told her, hitting the unlock button and unwrapping his arm from around her when they got to the parking lot. “See, just keeping on to the theme of keeping you on your toes.” His tone was light, teasing – he went through all the places that they could go eat in his mind and McDonalds was starting to look like the easiest and most affordable option of them all. “Probably McDonalds,” he announced as he climbed in to the driver’s seat of the blue matza, closing the door behind him and waiting for her to climb in.

Well, smiling at him was definitely a change from the urge to punch him in the face.
“You know, usually when you invite someone out to eat, you’re supposed to actually know where you’re going before you do,” she told him, walking over to the passenger’s side of the car once he had let go of her and unlocked it, looking over the top of the car at him as she spoke, before opening the door and getting in, dumping her bag on the floor between her feet after she had sat down. Not that she actually minded where they ate anyway, she wasn’t exactly fussy when it came to food, she would eat anything that was put in front of her basically, and there weren’t many places in Easton that she’d rather not eat at.
Reaching up to grab her seatbelt to put it on, she turned to look at him again, raising an eyebrow. “McDonalds? Classy,” she said, although the tone of her voice and facial expression was clearly joking, although she was fairly sure that he would be able to pick up the difference between when she was being insulting and when she was just joking around with him by now. “Actually, I had a giant craving for nuggets earlier today, so I guess that fixes that problem,” she added, shrugging as she buckled the seatbelt. “And I wouldn’t say no to a milkshake either… or ice cream. Either works.” away from what they say, we beat the odds and made it through the day, remember our first kiss we made under the night we felt alive, we knew that it was right, the kiss will live just like it's breathing, and when everything seems lost, just know you'll find me there, yeah, you'll find me waiting there, because we know |

[/div] Alex grinned widely, snapping his fingers together at her comment. Raising his brow up high at her, his hands drew up in a defensive ‘okay, okay’ gesture. “You know me all too well. Okay, maybe I was – but you didn’t… so there we go. No harm, no foul.” Shrugging his shoulders at her, he tried his hardest to keep a straight face – but was failing miserably about the whole situation. “I like to be spontaneous,” he said with a loud huff. “It’s just one of my many charming traits. See, I always keep you on your toes and have you prepared for anything. Your heart will appreciate it, I’m like… building your resistance to having a heart attack and keeping you on your toes. Though I’m not entirely sure if you can have resistance to heart attacks… I guess we’ll find out.”
Starting the car, his fingers drumming against the steering wheel impatiently as she climbed in. “What can I say? I’m extremely classy – you’re just tuning in to all of my desirable aspects today. Aren’t you lucky?” Leaning back in to the comfortable leather, he waited until the door was closed and her seat belt was on to pull out of the parking lot. “See, I knew that. I could like, sense it.” He was completely bullshitting now; there was no doubt about it. “I just could sense your craving for McDonalds. Though nuggets and milkshakes, now that you said it are sounding incredibly good right now,” he trailed off, patting his stomach in thought. Two years ago the thought of McDonalds would have made his stomach turn, but being at boarding school had really tainted his opinion on good food. When you were hungry and had no money or choices, McDonalds was pretty damn appealing if you wanted a warm meal.
“A chocolate milkshake… yes that sounds good. And fries.”
That was pretty much sounding like that was what he wanted to get. Driving a bit faster as he pulled on to the main road, the drive to McDonalds wasn’t very long – luckily for them. Before he knew it they were pulling in to the parking lot, hunger nagging away at him as he did a very poor parking job. “How was class?” He asked idly as he climbed out, waiting until she had closed the door behind her to hit the lock button. Shivering at the difference in temperature, he fell in to step beside her walking toward the restaurant.

He had really left himself open to that one, so he couldn’t complain too much. “And I don’t know, with the wonders of modern medicine these days… they’ve probably come up with a thousand different ways to build up some sort of resistance to it. Not that I would need to even worry about that if you weren’t actually trying to give me a heart attack in the first place, you know.”
“Your ‘desirable traits’? Again?” She let out another amused snort of laughter, shaking her head a little at him. “You’re really making it way too easy for me today, aren’t you? You’re really dropping the ball today.” Not that she had actually made some really sarcastic comment about that one, no, she would let that one slide for the most part, because it was still just fun to at least make a tiny bit of fun of him. Luckily he didn’t seem to mind, and if the tables were turned she would be taking it with good grace – it wasn’t like they were actually doing it to be nasty, so.
“Ooh yeah, fries sound good too, actually,” she replied. McDonalds might not have been her first choice of food normally, but it was probably better than the toast, or the cereal, or the leftovers in the fridge of her dorm that she would have come up with to eat if she’d gone there instead. Also it saved her the whole cooking, or at least preparing, part of it, and the cleaning up part of it too. Of course she was actually going to have to do that all of the time when she went to college, unless she planned on eating takeout every night, but for now she would avoid it all if she could.
Getting out of the car once they had arrived, she shrugged nonchalantly, falling into step beside him as they walked to the door. “Not any worse than usual. I’m glad it’s nearly over though… not that I’m sure that there will be many more less annoying people at university but I’m willing to place my bets that they’re going to be mostly better than living in a boarding school full of bitchy teenage girls,” she answered. “What about you?” away from what they say, we beat the odds and made it through the day, remember our first kiss we made under the night we felt alive, we knew that it was right, the kiss will live just like it's breathing, and when everything seems lost, just know you'll find me there, yeah, you'll find me waiting there, because we know |
