The sound of her cell phone buzzing brought a smile to Skylar’s face even though it was only 9 am – she didn’t care what time it was if someone wanted to text her. She sat up in bed, quickly reading and responding to the text from her mother. Sky’s cell phone was almost like a fifth limb on the freshman; she never went anywhere without it and she struggled to keep it in her bag throughout the school day. Now that she was awake she figured she might as well get up and start getting ready for the day. Syklar had her routine almost down to a science - brush teeth & wash face, get dressed, fix hair, apply makeup, and finally match nail polish to her outfit if the colors were clashing. She often went to her older sister for advice, but she was hoping that by the end of the year she would manage to make all of her appearance decisions independently. Today was really just about being cute and comfortable; Skylar was going to the mall with Valentina, hoping that some retail therapy might cheer her friend up. Skylar didn’t know much about dating boys, but she figured that if a guy was dumb enough to mess up a relationship, you might as well show him what he’s missing by making sure you look awesome. It took Sky just over an hour to get ready this morning and then she decided to see if her sister wanted to eat breakfast with her. First she was hoping to get Juliette’s approval on her apparel decisions, and second she realized she still had a lot of time before she and Val were even supposed to meet up. Skylar didn’t mind being ready early.. it was much better than being late and feeling guilty. She sent a text to her sister, but after about 10 minutes and not receiving a reply Sky was left to assume that Jules was still sleeping. Not a big deal. Skylar grabbed a breakfast bar and went to sit on one of the benches outside of the dorms. She loved getting fresh air. Sky sat there for a while, eating and people watching.. but the only people out this early on the weekend were school staff. Skylar recognized one of the cleaning women picking up trash along the path and she decided she might as well go talk with her for a while. It would be nice to have company and take a walk or something. Skylar greeted the woman with a bright smile and then struck up a conversation about how nice it was outside. The woman seemed slightly less awake and chipper (perhaps a little stunned or confused as to why a student was talking to her this early) as Skylar was, but she still engaged in a pleasant conversation. By 10:30 Skylar was waiting outside of the boy’s dormitory so her brother could drive her to the mall. She loved that her brother was old enough to drive and couldn’t wait until she was able to get her permit. She thanked her brother for the ride and jokingly informed him that he was the best chauffeur a girl could ask for. Skylar was very familiar with the mall and went directly towards Bloomingdale’s where she had agreed to meet Valentina. Only a few minutes had passed before Skylar grinned, spotting her friend approaching. “Hi!” she beamed, running over and giving Valentina a quick hug. “I’m so excited! This is going to be great,” she continued, now moving into the store and heading for the junior’s department. “Are you looking for anything specific or just browsing?” she questioned, knowing that her own answer was the latter option. Skylar hoped that shopping could help keep Val’s mind off of the boy drama for a few hours. Before really allowing enough time for Valentina to respond, another question had popped into her head and out of her mouth. "Are we just looking at clothes, or shoes and accessories too? You'll definitely have to take the lead.. because if i'm in charge we'll be here all day," she giggled, speaking honestly. Skylar could put together an entirely new wardrobe if given the time to do so. tag: valentina wearing: thisnotes: sorry, first posts are always rough >.<

if you say stay to me
Going shopping seemed like the way to go for Valentina; so she just decided to go along with it and in order to not let her mind be clouded with many dark thoughts she asked a friend of hers to come and be with her. Sky had always been a good friend, or well, since she had met her that is. So she had decided to ask her, besides, the girl seemed to be the type to really like shopping and she wants to be with someone who wouldn't mind to just clear their mind with looking around at random clothes and then maybe buy one or two things here and there. Although if one knows Valentina, she will end up buying a lot of things and a few others for Sky as well if the girl allows her too. Ever since her last break down she had decided to do things in a better way; she had been cutting down on heading to the gym that much like she had told James a while ago; she was eating a bit more as well and even when she was so stressed out about gaining some weight she had kept herself away from the scale and not thought much about it. Her body still looked the same, she had been checking that, and if her body hadn't changed at all then she assumed that her weight had managed to stay in the same level or at the very least close to it. If she managed to make this one work, then she might be able to eventually live with it and not have to worry so much; but this was just the first steps, and she has been down this road before; always starting strong and sticking to the rules, then somewhere down the road, down at the middle, there is a huge block and it sends her right back to the start. Then comes the guilt and the depression and time to start all over. All she wants is to be able to finish, to never have to start all over again, because by now Valentina is not sure how many times she will be able to do so.
After pushing all that out of her mind, after making sure her level of happiness was at the very least over half over she arrived at the mall. Her mind was telling her she was here early but she had been groomed to know that being on time is one of the most important things in life. Maybe some lessons that she received from her mother aren't all that bad, but the bad ones surely are more than the good ones. And even the good ones weren't taught in the proper way so it was difficult to even place them in the right list. The young girl walked around the store, not really paying much attention at what was around her, in fact she was just going aimlessly, and she is sure some people might have looked at her with a small confused look upon their faces. Maybe she shouldn't have arrived here so soon, she could have been back at her dorm just rehearsing for the next audition, she could have been just planning out what she was going to be eating next week, maybe even thinking of her gym routine, anything but to wonder without a real idea as to where to head off to. It was too late for that though; and besides, sooner than expected she looked up to see her friend in sight. Alright, so they could start to have a good time.
"Hi" Valentina's voice sounding like a whisper against Sky's voice. Although she did hugged the younger girl back, a soft smile making it's way to her pink lips. Oh dear, she had forgotten what a ball of sunshine Skylar actually is, but that is exactly what she needs. Seeing her so happy just reminded her of James, maybe the happiness runs in the family after all. Poppy is that happy as well and she is a cousin; so yes, family trait she assumed. "Well I am actually just browsing, see if anything cute comes our way, and I am open for anything, jeans, skirts, dress, whatever appears before me" her smile grew a little, just to be honest, this girl has some sort of power. The happy nature just seemed to be contagious. "So.. we can go to several stores" with a shrug and a nod she began to walk, starting to look around. "I also need something for an audition so... something cute and kind of vintage will work as well" she continued on. If the topic was theater related, then Valentina was able to speak. Other than that, she was not very talkative. “Browsing is good,” Skylar breathed happily, moving through the store with Valentina as they began to look at the clothing. Sky had a weak spot for some specific things when she shopped – she loved accessories and cute dresses more than almost anything else. Accessories in terms of jewelry, shoes, purses, and belts were incredibly hard for her to ignore. Every once in a while she would have to literally exit a store in order to prevent herself from unnecessarily spending money. Skylar was brought up to understand that you have to work hard to earn money, that it isn’t something you just throw away. While she knew she lived in the comforts of a financially well off family, she did her best to stay grounded. Skylar didn’t want to become spoiled simply because she could afford to do so. That wasn’t a very impressive quality at all. “We’ll definitely hit more than one store,” Skylar affirmed. She wouldn’t dream of going to the mall for retail therapy and only entering one shop.. even if it was Bloomingdales. “I don’t need anything in particular right now,” Sky admitted, knowing that saying it out loud still wasn’t going to prevent her from going home with a few small things. She knew shopping was no fun unless everyone was actually participating. The only exception to that rule was probably when one person was shopping for a special event.. like prom or a wedding. Skylar was looking through a rack of dresses when Valentina mentioned needing a dress for an audition. “That’s so cool!” she remarked, pausing her own search to focus her attention on Valentina. “What are you auditioning for?” she asked with curiosity. Skylar was a fan of the arts – whether that meant film, music, theater.. whatever. Growing up in London she had seen more than her fair share of shows on the West End, and since moving to the United States she had made several trips to New York City to see some shows on Broadway. “Vintage,” Skylar mused, trying to think of what stores might be the best to get the kind of look that Valentina was going for. “Maybe we can try Francesca’s next? They usually have a lot of cute clothes.. plus, their spring colors are really pretty this year,” she babbled, returning her gaze to the rack of dresses. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted an adorable white dress with a black satin bow around the waist on another clothing rack. Sky immediately went over to the dress and located one in her size. She pulled it off the rack and held it up in front of her body. “This is so cute! I’m gonna try it on,” she informed before quickly darting off to the nearest dressing room. A few minutes later Skylar happily bounced back out of the room with a smile and made her way back to Valentina. “I’m getting it,” she declared, happy to have found a new party dress. Now she could restrict the rest of her shopping to whatever accessories she wanted to wear with the dress and she would be able to consider the day to be a success. At the moment, however, it was probably more important to focus on Valentina. “Have you found anything you want to try on?” she queried, her eyes falling to the rack of clothing that Valentina was standing closest to. Skylar moved around in close proximity to see if there might be something she liked more than the dress she already had in her arms, but she found that she was fairly sure nothing could compare. “So what have you been up to lately?” Skylar wasn’t big on being too quiet, so she decided to start up another conversation. Sky was genuinely curious about what people from Easton had been up to over their spring breaks. She’d ended up meeting her parents in New York City. It was really nice to see them after being away at school for so long. Skylar would be lying if she said she was never home sick, but she tended not to focus on it. She knew she could call her parents any time she needed to talk to them.. and it definitely helped that she had an older brother and an older sister around if she ever needed a hug. tag: valentina wearing: thisnotes: shoppinggg

if you say stay to me
If there was something Valentina was good at, that was shopping. It all related back to her preview job as a model. She spend her entire childhood and part of her adolescence life submerged with the top designers, going from city to city to work with them. It just so happened that some of the lessons got stuck inside her mind, and so now when she is out buying for things, she had to look or what would match better, what would go with several color, the season, the fashion statement that she wishes to give out. It is not that she likes it, but it has been engraved in her mind and so now it will always be there. One could easily tell that Skylar was in her element, she was bounding and happy and ready to look at each and every little thing if given the opportunity. There were seconds in which Valentina would stop herself, glance at her friend and wonder how she can be so happy. Or, better yet, how she can turn herself in something similar. Not that she wants to imitate her, but, just find a way to be as happy as her. Nothing ever works for Valentina, everything she finds that makes her happy soon fades. Sure theater had stick around longer than usual, but that only works while she is doing anything related to it; when that is over it all goes back to the same. Of course more stores were in order, and something hit inside Valentina's mind that reminded her she needs to get a new pair of sunglasses; maybe after this store they could head to that one... maybe. She will have to wait and see what stores were near Bloomingdales, after all, she wouldn't mind hitting the sunglasses store last, as long as they manage to get there at some point during the day. The day? Oh gosh was she planning on spending all day in here? God knows she could but it would probably be best not to get so carried away. Or else she would end up buying more than necessary.
"For um, it's a or a theater company at the local theater" Valentina smiled a little, letting the girl work it's way around the stores that are here in the mall until one seemed to be highlighted for what she needs to buy. "Yes, sure we can go to that store" while speaking, all she could see was the different shirts that were hanging before her on the rack, passing one after the other to try and see if here is one that she likes. It never seems to help that her taste is rather specific when it comes to things she would wear in an audition. Maybe some things Valentina doesn't take to serious but this is one of the things that matter to her and, playing it lightly was not an option. There was nothing though, all she saw was several nice shirts that didn't fully catch her eye, although maybe what she needs is picture them with some accessories, see the entire outfit come to life inside her head then search for the missing pieces or think if there is already something in her wardrobe that would fit in. Before she could say anything Skylar was already rushing away to the changing room, leaving Valentina looking at her back as she disappeared into the rooms. A small chuckle left her lips while she turned to look at the rack, moving onto another one, trying her best to find something that would catch her eye. All of the ones she saw had some phrase printed on them. Live or Be yourself or some other thing that she was not looking for.
While she was gone, all the girl could do was glance around, trying but failing and so at the very end she merely stood there, half looking around until she just heard the happy voice again. "I couldn't find anything, I think I am gong to wait and see if there is anything at the next store" shoulders shrugging. "Nothing much..." that was more than true, she had been doing nearly nothing with her life, not compared to what everyone else's life is like. "I got that call back for the audition, the one I need the clothes for... um... I changed my gym routine, got a haircut" God her life was boring, but boring is exactly what she wants at the moment. "Other than that is pretty much normal and simple" thinking that she should probably return the question and that her answer will be more interesting to hear she decided to ask "What about you? Anything new happening in your life?" with that said she began to walk once more "Are you ready to pay or are you getting something else?" stopping mid way to the cash out. If she wanted to keep browsing they could obviously do so, after all they had plenty of time, or, at least Val had time for she wasn't going to do anything else all day. Skylar hadn’t been involved in any plays since she’d come to Easton because she wanted to focus on academics and dance for her first year. She was hoping that during her sophomore year she would be able to start doing more performing arts; she definitely missed being on a stage for a theater production. While dancing on stage was still very exciting, it was a lot more predictable than acting.. unless someone completely messed up, that is. “That sounds really cool!” Skylar grinned – she’d never imagined getting involved in theater within the community; it was more likely for her to just get involved through the clubs and arts offered already through the school. The fact that Valentina was seeking other venues was pretty cool. Sky smiled as Valentina agreed to go to Francesca’s. It was one of Sky’s favorites even though a lot of the clothing was still too big for her. Skylar often went there with her sister, and she loved her sister’s style. It normally wasn’t too difficult to find similar things in smaller sizes from other stores. Sometimes it was hard to be a little sister who wanted to be just like her older sibling. Juliette seemed to adore it though and they worked together to make sure they both had pretty impressive wardrobes – then again, anything was better than the school uniforms, so it didn’t take all too much work to look impressive on weekends. After Sky had come bounding out of the dressing room she nodded when Valentina declared that she couldn’t find anything. No shame in that, though if it were up to Skylar she would probably be buying half of the store. While she wasn’t quite a fan of the high prices that went along with the merchandise in the high end department store, she generally loved the clothing. “That’s okay,” Skylar shrugged, “I’m sure you’ll find something before we’re done.” Skylar couldn’t think of a single time she’d left a mall completely empty handed – well, at least she couldn’t think of a time when she’d gone shopping for retail therapy that she hadn’t managed to find something she wanted to get. When she was younger there had definitely been times when she hadn’t ended up purchasing anything, but even that was a rarity. If she wasn’t guying something then someone she was with probably was – whether it was a parent, friend, or sibling. Skylar took a few moments to look at the clothing that Valentina had been searching through so that she would know what sorts of things to avoid as they continued shopping. There was no point in choosing stores that would have the kind of apparel that Valentina had already turned down. Skylar was politely listening as Valentina filled her in on what she had been up to recently, nodding her head when appropriate. The audition still sounded like a lot of fun, but Skylar didn’t see the need to re-address the topic until they had found appropriate clothes for the part that she was looking for. Changing a gym routine wasn’t something Skylar could really even comment on. She was only fourteen and the gym wasn’t really a regular part of her schedule. She would go run on the treadmill every once in a while when the weather outside wasn’t feasible for running, but even that wasn’t routine in her life. Sky basically had a lot of energy to burn through, so on days that she didn’t get to participate in a lot of physical activity, she would throw in some cardio. “You’re hair looks great!” she commented, now taking a moment to study Valentina’s hair. “You’re lucky your hair is so long. I want mine to grow out but it’s taking forever,” she informed with a slight tug on her blonde locks. She really did wish it would grow a bit faster. Only little kids had short hair these days. When the question was redirected her way she was sure her smile widened; she was eager to share about her spring break because she had been able to spend time with her parents. “I went to New York City over break and saw some shows with my parents. It was so fun!” She paused for a moment, deciding which details of the trip were most worth sharing. “One night we went and saw Les Mis and then after we went to this amazing candy store and got ice cream,” Skylar almost always thought sweets were worth talking about, and Dylan’s Candy Bar in the city was definitely a spectacle. “I feel kind of bad though.. my brother stayed here and watched my cousin’s cats,” she added with a giggle. Unless desperately needed, Skylar didn’t think that she would turn down a trip to the city in order to babysit an animal. Then again.. she supposed the was probably more home sick than her brother was. He’d been going to boarding school for three years and this was Skylar’s first extended stay away from home. “Oh, I’m ready to pay!” she responded, heading over to the register and paying for the dress. “Alright.. Francesca’s is on the other side of the mall, so we can hit some other stores on the way. Where do you want to go?” Sky figured it was only fair to allow Valentina to pick the next store since she had not only decided to meet at Bloomingdales, but she had also been the only one to make a purchase. tag: valentina wearing: thisnotes: shoppinggg

if you say stay to me
Very few things caused Valentina to feel happy lately. But she was holding on to them for her life, because by the end of the day her life truly does depends on those things. Without them there will be no point in keep on going, without them she is pretty sure her life would have ended years ago. Today though, today was a day in which nothing mattered, nothing but fashion choices and happy times. It was new, yes but Valentina is certain that at some point or another she will be able to take charge of it, to learn to accept them without a second guess. It was easier to do so when she was spending time with a girl, she will admit to that. Specially given the fact that Skylar was younger, and so sweet and cheerful that there was no possible way for her to want something out of this right? It just read that way in her mind. It certainly caused this to move in a smooth way. Hopefully she won't end up saying something that will cause this moment to be ruined; or end up having one of her little faint episodes although that had been reduced since the last one, because she was trying her best to be a better person. Not the easiest thing, but, at the very least she hasn't given up just yet. And if she ever does give up, well, she wouldn't allow the people here to notice, she will leave town and probably go to a beautiful place where her last few days would be miserable but with an amazing view. Something beautiful within the sadness of death. People always thought there was something poetic here and there when it comes to death, she can't see it, but maybe the rest of the world would be able to do so.
Snapping out of her thoughts due to Sky's voice a smile crossed her lips "Sure, I will find something one way or another" the girl agreed. It wouldn't be so difficult, and despite being slightly picky she has to realize that she should get something in the end. Even if it doesn't catch her eye completely, even if it is not perfect, if it's close to something she will like then she will certainly do so. It wasn't even about the shopping anymore; the realization had taken a few minutes to arrive but now she could see it clearly. It was about spending time away from the routine she had been stuck with. People fight or what they love, people, people take every single moment in their every day life to achieve the goals they want. That is what Valentina does, but she needs to be able to step back from it all and observe everything else; she needs to be able to put it all on hold and relax. Relaxing to her had never been clear, she usually spend time at the gym thinking it was relaxing when it really wasn't. This, however, this moment right here was relaxing and nice. So she let herself keep looking at the clothes, waiting for younger girl to respond to her.
"Your hair looks lovely Sky, and I have this umm.. I am not sure how to call it, but it's a sort of shampoo that I use and it helped grow my hair quicker so if you like I can get you some" Valentina chuckled, but there was no joke behind her words; surely most people might think that what she says is very stupid or that those things don't work out. However her hair did grow faster once she started using it, whether the shampoo works or her mind caused a placebo effect and made it work that way she wasn't sure. If it works for her, then it most work for Sky as well; in theory at least. Either way the offer has been made and it was up to Sky to take it or not. Her eyes looked at Skylar, thinking that she is a great person when it comes to fashion, it was nice to have someone who wouldn't mind spending time with her buying clothes, someone who understands that clothes is not really just throwing on whatever you have in your closet and that it can work in a way to express what you feel or what you like. She had always thought that clothes were just that, a way to show off to the world what you like, and that the fact that you like clothes doesn't make you a dumb person like some people tend to think. She dislikes the people who judge the ones who like clothes, just because for you they mean nothing doesn't make the others stupid for liking them.
"I doubt that James minded, he seems happy to just help anyone" Valentina had noticed that ever since she had gotten to know the guy; surely she doubted the intention of his helpful manner ever now and then, but by now she had come to realize that he was just a nice soul, someone willing to help without expecting anything in return. Now she realizes about that though, which is good. "I need to buy some sunglasses, the pair I have are just... not in the best of shapes" her feet began to move to head out of the store once everything was paid for. "I think there is one two stores down, so we can check that out and then continue our way to Francesca's, we can both try out some sunglasses, that's always fun" to be honest she wasn't sure if Sky would agree but trying out different styles of sunglasses was always fun in her mind. "New York is amazing, by the way, I wish I could work on Broadway one day" somehow her mind had managed to head back to that topic, and she doesn't mind at all. Valentina knows that is aiming quite high, but that is why she is not limiting herself to school plays, that is why she is trying out at the local theater, why she is opening more doors for her. She finally has a goal and nothing is going to stand in her way. "Do you think I am aiming to high?" she asked all of the sudden, the idea reaching her in a heart beat; maybe she should aim lower, and stay here at Easton. “I don’t doubt that; we’ve got a lot of stores to get too,” Skylar affirmed. She knew that there was a very slim chance that Valentina, picky or not, would be leaving the mall without making a single purchase. It would take even the choosiest girl a lot of will power to make something like that happen. The conversation moved to hair – Skylar wondered how well a boy would fare if he ever came shopping with her and Valentina. It was unlikely that he would be able to contribute very much to the conversations unless they shifted topics. Oh well. No need to worry about a situation that might not ever occur. “Thanks,” she smiled at the compliment. Skylar wasn’t self-conscious about her hair or anything, she just thought that it might look nice if she was able to grow out a bit. For a girl who is always on the move like herself, she was rather impatient and it felt like it was just taking forever and a day for her hair to grow. Her eyebrow quirked as Valentina mentioned a special shampoo that was able to lengthen hair faster. It didn’t sound particularly natural, but it did sound pretty cool. She’d have to do some research on it first though. “Really? That sounds so cool! I might take you up on that,” she grinned. “James is happy to help. That’s why I keep him around,” she teased. Skylar loved both of her siblings very much, which was probably the only reason she had managed not to get too homesick during this year at school. This was the first time she was away from her parents, and it wasn’t all that east – having her brother and sister around made her much more comfortable. “You’re friends with him, right?” she queried, still trying to figure out who knew who. One would think that after this long she’d have a better clue, but she chalked it up to being a slight scatter-brain like her older sister. Skylar paid and then they were on their way through the mall, talking about sunglasses. “I love sunnies!” Skylar beamed. It was true – when she tried on pairs that were clearly too big for her face she would laugh and pretend like she was a super famous celebrity. “I’m sure that there is a perfect pair for you somewhere in this mall,” she added confidently. You could find sunglasses in any department store or even in the specialty glasses stores. Sky had no doubts that Valentina wouldn’t be able to find at least one pair that she was very fond of. As they approached a glasses store and started talking about the city, Sky became aware that Broadway was a topic that Valentina seemed to enjoy. “I don’t think that’s aiming too high at all!” she replied with honesty. “There’s no reason to believe you don’t have just as good a chance as anyone else to end up in a show.” All it really took was a lot of hard work and the desire to perform. “I bet you’d be great on Broadway,” she added with a smile. What was that popular saying? Something about shooting for the moon, but even if you miss you’ll still land among the stars. Skylar wasn’t big on spewing clichés, but that was her reasoning for telling Valentina that there was no shame in aiming high – certainly better than selling yourself short and aiming low. Skylar flitted around the sunglass shop, occasionally putting a pair on her face and giggling at her reflection. She found a particularly silly looking square frame and looked over to Valentina. “Oh my gosh,” she laughed, “ What kind of face do you need to be able to pull these off?” Skylar was asking all in good humor; sometimes she didn’t understand how some designs ever made it through to production. tag: valentina wearing: thisnotes: shortening this up a bit xD

It wasn't really any trouble to get her some of the shampoo she has; after all it is something she buys on a regular basis and it would not be any bother to get an extra bottle for her if she comes to want one. "Sounds good, just let me know what you decide" with that done she wondered if he should go shopping soon enough; at some point she knows that what she has will end, and even when she doesn't spend much time inside her dorm, and even when most of the food she has doesn't get eaten before it goes bad; she should probably start making sure to buy things that will last, or to end up eating more. Yes, she should probably do the second option, yet knowing her she will end up doing the first one. There was really no problem with that though; sure she was not eating as much as a regular person was, but at the very least she is getting close to it. Baby steps; all of this takes baby steps or else she will panic and everything will get back to where it was when she started over. So yes, a trip to the grocery store was in order, along with some online shopping for a few things that she can't exactly find here at Easton. She recalled the days when that would mean she had to get her drugs; thinking back on that she never was the one who bought them, maybe once or twice, but the rest her mother used to take care of that. What a lovely woman. How she managed to live with that person for so long was beyond her understanding. Although, she does recall the years before it all started, her mother wasn't always so terrible, but those years were blurry now, just a simple memory that got erased even more with each day that goes by.
"Yes, I am his friend" Valentina responded; her mind quickly thinking back on the guy, a small smile quickly appearing as she thought about him. It felt odd to actually state the fact that he is her friend, actually mean it was even more shocking to her than anything else. The guy was great, and he was just one of those person's who happen to prove to the world that not everyone is terrible. She guess there are a lot of people like that, Skylar also being a clear example of it, but up until now Val hadn't exactly bumped into anyone like that. Except for her friend -who she wasn't even sure could be qualified as such- Ryan who had helped her get here to Easton. While walking Valentina made sure to keep her eyes ahead of them, occasionally stealing a glance at Skylar to make sure she wasn't walking to fast or slow. Not being used to walking with people had sort of gotten her to forget to keep up the pace when she has company.
So they had a place to go, a place they both agree on, and as they made their way to the designated store a subject that had been surrounding Valentina's mind for a while came to the surface. Or rather, she brought it to the surface. It was just difficult to believe she will be able to reach that place; it is so important, so big, you need to really have talent to get and be there and as much as Valentina likes to think she is good at acting she wouldn't go as far as to say she is the best. It was nice to see someone believes in her though, hearing that from Skylar meant a lot, whether she was being nice or truly believing that or not. "Well thank you, I guess we'll just have to wait and see how it all ends" she smiled, thinking there was just no way to really be sure how things will end up until she is able to head over to New York and audition for one of those shows, or to get in one of those art schools that open more doors for you. Either way Valentina will be able to at the very least give it a try.
Once inside the store all Valentina did was try some glasses. Liking a few and then feeling like others could not look worse on her face. "Oh god, I have no idea, a very special one" Valentina joked while looking at the sunglasses; the girl shook her head. It was very rare for her to joke, but it was nice to see she could do it without a second thought at the time being. "Alright I think I am getting two..." she knew she should probably just get one pair but one thing she loves is the fact that there are tons of sunglasses and that you can pretty much wear a different one every day. Sunglasses are probably her favorite accessory. "Yes, definitely these two" Valentina moved to pay for the two pairs, loving the already and wanting to head outside to try them on. "Are you getting anything Sky?" she asked her, glancing over at the girl. "Or do you want anything?" she added, making her see that if she wants something and can't get it right now she could easily pay for her. After all she is the one who invited her and in her mind it just worked that she could get her something. dancing in the moonlight Skylar was having a good time trying on different pairs of sunglasses and seeing how they looked on her, but she wasn’t currently in need of a new pair and her parents had raised her not to spend money without necessity. “Those are super cute!” she smiled, nodding at the two pairs that Valentina had settled on purchasing. Skylar couldn’t justify buying another pair of sunglasses when she already had so many. If there were ever something that she really wanted or a special occasion she needed something for, then she wouldn’t have a problem doing a little extra shopping – but Skylar wasn’t one to spend without reason. “No, I’m good!” she replied, holding up her Bloomingdale’s bag to show that she was content in her purchases thus far. Skylar didn’t really think she would be buying anything else on this trip. It was time to just focus on getting Valentina an outfit for her audition and then they could probably head back to school. Skylar waited patiently as Valentina went up and paid. “All set?” she asked after Valentina’s interactions with the cashier.
Alright. Two stores down. “Now we just need to get you something fabulous to wear to your audition,” Skylar breathed as they exited the sunglass shop. She didn’t have much to go in terms of what Valentina really needed to portray. ‘Vintage’ was something that could be taken many different ways.. and Skylar knew nothing about the character that Valentina was going for. On that basis, she decided that it was probably best that she just allow Valentina to make the decisions as to where else they stopped. Skylar figured that Valentina must have some kind of picture in her mind of how she wanted to dress. “Maybe we should just walk down the mall and if you see something that stands out we can just go in?” she suggested with a slight shrug as they made their way around. It seemed to be a pretty sufficient plan if Valentina didn’t have a specific destination in mind.
“So what show are you auditioning for? Skylar thought that if she knew more about the show she might be a little more helpful in deciding on what Valentina should wear. Even at only fourteen, Skylar had seen a fair number of theatre productions both on Broadway and on the West End. As far as favorites went, Sky didn’t think she would ever really be able to narrow it down. Sometimes she thought the shows were brilliant but the cast was lacking, other times she wasn’t a fan of the script or the music but fell in love with the actors. “What’s the character like?” she added, making her question even more specific. The more she knew, the better.
Sky definitely missed being in theatre productions, but she’d made the decision to focus on dance instead. She had been dancing since she was a toddler and she couldn’t quite describe how she felt every time she got to go to a performance or a competition. Based on her own experience, she couldn’t blame Valentina for enjoying time on stage. The two girls continued walking through the mall – in Skylar’s mind, window shopping was almost as good as actually shopping – so she had no problem looking at items for sale as they wandered past. “Those shoes are super cute,” she commented as they walked past a small boutique that had a pair of tall, nude heels on display. Skylar had a similar pair from last season, but her feet had since grown out of them. She sighed, today wasn't a day to buy new heels; Skylar had more than enough with her at school. "Have you seen anywhere you want to stop in?"

if you say stay to me
Valentina had to admit that she was actually having fun at the moment and enjoying this time with Skylar. She was starting to think that maybe her personality was contiguous and that was a good thing of course. The girl had managed to pay for the sunglasses and carefully carried the bag in her left arm. She wants to be able to just feel relaxed in this place; despite the fact that she had managed to open to up James about how her life had been before Easton, even when she knows that no one knows she is here and that there is really no way for her mother or her agent to find her here, she still has that sensation of feeling sad and confused and rather paranoid, she thinks that at any given second they are going to show up and force her to go back to them. To make her go back to that life that caused her mind to fracture and not be sure who she was or how to live
This was not the time nor the place to actually think about all of this because she has someone here who is actually a rather nice person and needs to know nothing about her sad past. So with that in mind she shook her head and smiled when she began to speak again about them needing a nice little outfit for her audition. "That is exactly what I need to do now" she chuckled a little bit while walking with her. As she stepped out of the shop she was feeling like she was leaving her negative thoughts behind and merely focusing on the good and leaving the bad parts behind right? Yeah that is what she needs to be doing. This was a shopping day after all, shopping days are supposed to be fun, happy, carefree. So that is what she needs to do. "Yeah that sounds good to me, maybe there is something in the windows that could work" she said in the end with a nod of her head.
Valentina began to swing her bag back and forth a little bit, looking around the place as she noticed all the happy people, some guys who were sitting at the benches looking like they were ready to leave. It always amazed her how some guys loath this shopping activity although she has also been able to notice that some girls hate this as well. It wasn't as common but it is known to happen. When a voice came to her she snapped out of her thoughts in a blink and turned to look at her companion. "Um, it's an adaptation of the movie "funny face" Valentina began to answer the questions with a smile on her lips. She had always been a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn, she was such an amazing actress and so down to earth as well that it was just an inspiration in her mind even when she never ever considered herself as such. It was then that she was about to respond to her other question when she commented on some shoes and she nodded. "Those are really pretty, would go great with that skirt" she mentioned as she pointed at another skirt that was only a store away. She smiled though, picturing those things and adding a shirt she has in her closet. That would be a nice outfit but she didn't even mention that.
"I think we can go into that one" she mentioned, she did like that skirt and she feels that it could work. "I like that skirt for the audition" she loves the fact that it is a white, being type of color. "But going back to the character" she chuckled, noticing that she had forgotten to answer that question while they walked over to the store. "It's this girl who is a librarian, and suddenly some guy offers her a modeling job, she agrees because she will be able to travel and go see the city she has been hoping for; she is sort of a bookworm, a very smart girl, a little quirky" she smiled while stepping into the store and instantly going to find the skirt she liked. "It's also a musical so that makes it even better in my opinion" she continued to say, finally finding the skirt and going to search for her size. "Now I need to see if I can actually find a shirt" she added with a smile. Finally getting to that state where happiness was surrounding her, it was a very rare state for her to be in, so that caused her to feel even better, not ever wanting the feeling to slip away.

dancing in the moonlight Funny face. Hmm. Skylar didn’t think she had ever seen the movie before, so she doubted she would really be able to help too much. However, she was sure that Valentina would be able to put together a perfect outfit. Sky did have a decent sense of fashion, so she would be able to provide some good advice as to whether or not the outfit Valentina decided off was appropriate for the part she was auditioning for. Skylar followed Valentina into the store that had the window items they had been admiring. “That skirt is adorable!” Skylar agreed. She wasn’t sure it was quite vintage, but with the right top and accessories it could definitely work. Skylar continued to browse the shop quietly as Valentina went on and described the character. A librarian turned model. That sounded pretty cool – and Skylar was sure that Valentina would be able to relate well to the character given her past modeling career.
“Musicals are definitely the best,” Skylar beamed. Having just returned from New York City, she was more than happy to talk about musical theater. Skylar had grown up around the stage – she always had energy which was what helped with her performing. As a freshman at Dulcinea she had chosen to focus only on dance, not wanting to be overwhelmed with extra curricular activities and academics – but next year she was going to branch out and try more. She was confident that she had learned how to balance her social life with studying and was no longer too concerned with taking on too much. “I bet you would be perfect for that role,” she commented, still thinking about what Valentina might want to wear for her audition.
Hmm. A shirt. “Maybe go with something a powdery blue color? It’ll make your eyes pop.. and it’s a pretty conservative color which works for that librarian aspect,” she offered. Her eyes searching the store for anything in the color she was talking about. Skylar spotted a pretty light blue top with a lace peter pan collar. “What about this?” she asked, holding the garment up to show to Valentina. “It comes in a light coral color too,” she added, her eyes roaming the rack again. It was conservative enough but would still show Valentina’s figure. It was a pretty perfect look for someone who was going to be a librarian getting discovered to model.

if you say stay to me
Valentina couldn't help but wonder if her managing to get this role in the play would mean that she is one step closer to what she wants to do for the rest of her life. If his is some sort of step in her life, in her work life for that matter since to be honest that is the only thing she is focusing on at the time being. She doesn't really know how to get herself in check when it comes to her life, because no matter how much she denies it, she knows that her mind is a complete mess on that matter. All she can really do is try and work things out as she goes on because the idea of going to a psychiatrist is not something she can actually consider because she knows she would like to change the names and then it would sort of be like lying. A small sigh escaped her lips while she looked around at the clothes, it was nice to see that Sky seemed to like the skirt, sure it might not be what she had in mind but once she saw it, it felt like something a modern version o her role would use. That is kind of what attracted her to it. With a smile she felt somewhat proud of herself, and she had to give herself a pat on her back, because as of now she was feeling happy and not sad. That alone was a huge step in her life, but she is unsure as to how long it's going to last.
"I have to agree with you, Musicals are definitely one of my favorites" she mentioned with a nod of her head. The last one they did at the school had been rather fun. She has never been much to mind if she gets a big or small part as long as she likes the role, she could be the one being in the show for one line and she would be happy if she likes the role. It was just her way of thinking. Right now, the one for the audition, it was the main role but she didn't actually planned it like that, she just read the character descriptions and she happened to like that one. It was nice to hear her say those things, even when she is probably just saying it to be nice. "Thank you, I will let you know if I get the part" she mentioned with a chuckle. Her eyes were locked on her or a second before she glanced at the clothes ones more, grabbing a black shirt at the moment. She wants to have several options. She knows her size, she knows that will fit and what not, so she rarely goes to try on clothes, she has never been a huge fan of dressing rooms after all.
As she was looking at he clothes she nodded her head. "Alright, I like that blue one" she admitted while she took the shirt, nodding her head and smiling at it. "I think I am taking this one, the shirt and tis black one, I can try them both with the whole accessories and the shoes and see which one fits best" a smile on her lips. It was amazing what shopping could do to a girl, which was definitely make her happy. She was also quite certain that her happiness was coming more from being with someone she likes rather than being spending money. "What do you say we go pay for this and then we can go get some food if you like" Valentina began to walk to pay for the things she had in her hand. It was rather nice to be like this, to just relax and have a good time. Maybe she ought to do this more often. Maybe what she needs is not to focus so much on just getting a good career and what she needs is to focus on being happy with all or almost all of the aspects in her life. yeah, that is probably the right thing to do.
